How do I update my baseband, is unlocked bootloader really nessesary, can I flash roms just by placing the .zip on the SD card and running it from xrecovery or CWM ?
I have a lot of experience flashing the HTC Tattoo and HTC Hero but this x10 mini is really giving me a lot of problems

Not that great, most roms expect a baseband ending in 4015, if you don't flash the firmware (kernel + rom) that incorporates that, they won't work properly.

most u20i has BB ending with 015. It has been a requirement since the ages of this forum. So I am not expecting it to be an issue. Thousands are members and users of the u20i forum and I never seen any complaints having diff. BB. If there is, then I will make a remedy for it.

Apparently, the person asking the question does NOT have a baseband ending in 015, otherwise he wouldn't ask how to update it i presume, so saying it can't or doesn't have to be upgraded is not very helpful. And how long it has been a requirement in this forum does not really reflect on the amount of devices shipped by SE with a different baseband.

He (or she ofcourse) is a new user exploring his/her options, so directing him to the correct ways of doing things so he experiences as few issues as possible would be more helpful.

Maybe I missed asking him (Or her) what her baseband is. That might be my mistake.
