As far as I remember this issue is related to the kernel and not to the ROM. I have the same problem with GB.
My findings so far:
- No problems playing video.
- GPS not working.
- No multitouch, for example pinch-to-zoom isn't working in the browser or Maps.
- Excellent battery life in standby.
- Need to toggle WiFi occasionally to re-enable it.
- External SD-card still not recognized.
Wifi is a known issue carried over from pre-alpha.
External sd-card is working. I can play video from it. the path to external sdcard has changed to /sdcard2/
Haven't tested gps yet. How did you tested it?
Camera is sort of working...
back camera
front camera
panorama mode
In this world of over promise and under deliver, I like to do the opposite. It's sort of working because there is a major flaw in that when switch from front to back camera or vice versa the screen needs to be turn off then on for it to work. But it does take pictures and does save them.
Also video doesn't work yet. So it's sort of.
I think the "sd-card not recognized" means that it is not mounted for USB access. I have the same issue.
I, a different person, just tested GPS by turning off WLAN and carrier location services, and Maps was unable to provide a location.
Not sure anyone has posted about this, but I'm getting a crash when trying to view the "Apps" tab of the Settings.apk
I flashed this expecting to have to reflash HC. I found so far for what I do it is a perfect daily driver. The only thing that I would like to see is BT working. Other than that great work!!!! Thank you for bring ICS to us. I was tablet shopping but with this Rom I plan on keeping my view for quite awhile!

Thanks. Seriously, ync, thanks for taking on this remarkable project.
I've been using the "pre-alpha" for 3 weeks now and just flashed the new release, and I have to say that it's really impressive. I have flashed many other ROMs that don't have the same level of stability as this alpha. Even the rom that I was using prior to this on the View would just randomly reboot every day or so... which is the worst. This thing rocks, even with the red border and the hack necessary for video. Here are some things I've noticed:
- Wifi seems a little strange on finding new hotspots, which has been discussed.
- Camera is not available, of course.
- Video works great now, but youtube is sluggish.
- Multi-touch was working for weeks, but somehow just stopped.
(It stopped after I changed some seemingly unrelated setting in ROM Control)- external sd card seems to work fine for me. I can access it fine with X-plore and other tools as sdcard2
- Navigation soft keys were squished for me, but I fixed them perfectly with cfoesch's method.
All in all, things are pretty great and the development is progressing nicely. Thanks again
Yep, Gps is not working, we'll take a look. So sdcard works on the device but not when sharing via usb correct? Does that work in HC or GB?
Yeah, exactly. SD Card works fine on device, but doesn't show up when I connect through USB. Yes, it worked in HC (Desensed v1.5/2.1 both).
Also, I will try clearing the Dalvik cache tomorrow. I wipe data/factory reset every install. Huh, I suppose I could wipe the regular cache as well. (Nice thing about cache? You can just invalidate all of it, and then keep on moving as if nothing happened. The data directory? boo... may as well reinstall)
Hi, thanks for all your efforts, this is a really remarkable achievement, congratulations!
I'm using this as a daily driver, it's quite stable, and I know that it's only going to get better.
An interesting development though...I seem to have lost root when I flashed this rom.
It's not really a big deal, my usage doesn't really require that I have it, but I thought that you might like to know.
Thanks again for a really great rom!
I am running 3G/4G on my View and don't mind being a guinea pig for testing functionality, although I've no idea how I would get the feedback files you need to you ? My View is rooted and is running a custom DeSensed ROM.Yeah it's my dd as well =) Other than the aforementioned missing features the ROM is actually very stable. Camera is 80% ready, I am also working on BT and gps next. Then maybe maybe 3g and pen. Some ppl have suggested getting service for 30 days to work on 3g. But unfortunately that's not how development works. (don't get me wrong I actually like the 30 days suggestion)
Let me give you guys a little overview of how this rom was created.
first of all the source code contains hundreds of thousands files, some files contains logic pertaining to only some device. Most logic only pertains to chip-sets vaguely similar to your device. So you have no idea where to look to start with.
Since this is low level development there aren't fancy tools to set break points so logging is pretty much the only way to go. Imaging inserting a log message, recompile the rom source (20 gigs of data) which takes anywhere from 1 to 8 hours depending on your hardware. Then re-flash to see that one message. It's insanely painstaking and tedious.
A lot of devices's hardware are inter-dependent so you don't even know which part is actually the problem, I give you an example, the flyer devs has been struggling for 3 months with the static filled screen, common sense dictates that this must be an issue with the graphics right? Wrong, it has to do with memory management. Which no one in their right mind would think to look (except for me).
My point is you just don't know how long it would take to get some thing to work. It could be hours or days or even months.
I started this project because there were no one willing/capable to work on this device, I got tired of waiting so I figure I will give it a try. Now I am starting to realize why anyone who is capable is not willing.

Let me know if and how I can help ...
As others have said appreciate you efforts on this
I think what u mean is super user privilege? Just install the super user app.

yncconsulting as you said about your to-do list can we see what is inside?
