Well I also pointed out the pentile display which is gross, and the signal issue which there is tons of threads about. The One S and GS3 are similar to how the Sensation & GS2 T989 were related. Same processor, but the Sensation suffered from signal issues, lag and a poor FFC. Sense, whether you like it or not takes a lot of resources. FACT. The GS2 with the same exact processor performed leaps and bounds better and I have no doubt the GS3 is the same way this time around. I have owned all said devices, so this is not speculation or some bloggers paid opinion. The fact that you said US HTC One S users will have a superior processor.......umm how if it's the exact same one within the GS3?, 2gb of RAM sounds superior to me. Multitasking is a pain on the One S (one again, I have owned it) it can't even switch back to a webpage without having to reload. The One S may perform marginally better on an outdated & pixelated screen with crippled expansion abilities. Take that to the bank fanboys. Fail harder next time please

It all comes down to preference.

HTC always makes gorgeous exteriors that usually cause signal issues & they take forever to release source (Has is been yet?) Better build quality sure, but at the cost of performance?
Sense is super intensive on RAM and CPU and runs super deep into the android framework.

Samsung makes lighter, usually polycarbonate bodies to reduce weight and make them easier to replace. Signal has never been an issue with me on a Galaxy phone because of this design. Samsung released source code for the GS3 before the phone was officially released. CYANOGEN himself works for Samsung into helping them make the most cutting edge, efficient, and powerful coding for software.

I also have used the face camera unlock and have had no problems with it whatsoever Doesn't work in pitch black obviously but every time I unlock the device, the screen is also unlocked straight away. Take the ugly mask off

In your opinion the display is gross, not my opinion and same for many others, have shown everyone of my friends and family the display and they have been very impressed with it, one of the first things that they comment on.

Again, just because there are ton of threads where people are stating an issue doesn't mean that it applies to everyone.......... Many people only voice there opinions when something goes wrong and never any positives. And we only make up a very small % of owners for the S on this forum.

Again, you seem to be ignoring the screenshots in my post that I addressed these issues again, no problems with resources regarding RAM etc. as I have shown with the task manager. And if it really was hogging resources then please explain why the battery life is so great (for the S and XL) and outmatches the GS 3 S4 version despite the GS 3 having the bigger battery?????? Again what a strange observation you make, because I have had the GS 2 on stock ICS right beside my stock S and the performance was far better in everything, everything was just more instant and even my friend who owns the GS 2 said the exact same and the majority of people who have upgraded from the GS 2 to the S.

Wrong again, people who have the S and GS 3 have said that both are just the same overall, the GS 3 is slightly smoother but in terms of raw speed, more or less the same. I also have had the 2 side by side and they are the same pretty much, GS 3 smoother but not by much.

(not owned but plenty of time with the top end devices) and also these opinions are coming from other forums and these guys have owned every device there is and to just show good the S is, this one guy usually upgrades his mobile to the latest and greatest and sells the old one to fund it, but guess what, he didn't, he kept both the S and GS 3 because he loves the S sooo much as well, he didn't want to get rid of it and the only reason he is sticking with the GS 3 is due to storage, shocker!

Once again this is relative and I never mentioned battery life as a factor. When I had my One S I wasn't impressed compared to my T989. Yes the One S should get better battery life as the processor is optimized for it

You also mentioned the One S can load a pageful of .gifs faster than a Note or GS2, big surprise there bro. That's like comparing a Mustang to a Ferrari, of course the One S beats those at a totally useless test. You are comparing last years technology to one that is cutting edge. Of course the benchmarks are gonna be higher for the One S, it's running a smaller & lower rez screen. If were to run the same hardware on a 2" screen I would dust the One S by double. Kudos on the astonishing, non pertinent info which showcases your lack of how technology actually works. Kudos.

Yeah, I usually don't post too much "defending" the phone especially "attacking" other phones etc. but it is getting tiring and irritating seeing the same posts by the same couple of people (think we all know who the other one is ) who keep posting the same xxxx in every thread where someone asks about the one S vs xxx or the pros and cons etc. and thinking that it applies to every single S there is and therefore the mobile is **** etc. etc.

I'm not trashing anything dude, these are simple facts that people may be overlooking. Someone asked a legitimate question and I am answering it with real world experience. I loved the One S to be honest, great camera, great form factory and benches that would make the android horsepower gurus drool.
Believe me I was sold, I actually bought it I liked it so much. I'm only providing a balanced view of things, and while my attitude may seem crude, the facts are not. This is a forum where people who sometimes have no insight of these products look to users/owners for advice. I am trying to provide that from an actual, non biased place. I gave up my One S because it didn't seem like much of an upgrade. I am one of the dudes that has his phone filled with .FLACs, and full movies for my 3 year old daughter. I am what I would consider a power user and most times need an extra battery to get me thru the day. I hate being plugged in and hate streaming from a cloud because most of the time it reduces the quality of music, which defeats my extensive .FLAC library. That, and the fact that I travel to places in my state where coverage isn't so great. Was it a bad experience, no. I love HTC, this particular device I had to let go because it didn't fit my lifestyle, that's it.

I am not just comparing the phone to the phones that have the S3 chip.......I am comparing it to every other phone there is and the S4 is superior to every CPU even the quad in the GS 3 and X, not just for raw speed per core but also heat and power efficiency as well.

No you didn't but you keep saying about sense being a huge resource hog, however, how can it be if the one S and XL get great battery life if RAM and CPU is being hogged? Just like an app, which doesn't close when required and will hog resources and drain battery life. Granted the S4 helps a lot but even still if resources are being hogged then the battery life wouldn't be as good, also if sense was such a huge hog then the battery life would be nowhere as good and the one S is better than the GS 3 S4 version for battery life, and you said that touchwiz is far lighter and better optimized than sense, once again why would the battery life be worse on the GS 3 and better on the S etc.? (and yes I know the screen is bigger and higher res. on the GS 3 but the bigger battery makes up for that and the XL is still better anyway.

Also the hardware is crap/pointless if the software/drivers aren't optimized for it.

Yes it is polycarbonate, however, they ruin the true feel/look of it by having that hyperglaze/glossy finish to it.

This site isn't solely for discussion of ROM's, tweaks etc. but also discussion of apps, general stuff like accessories and useful info. on certain stuff.

Not really a useless test, well for me anyway, as I am a heavy web browser and a random gif thread is one of the many threads that I visit daily, so would like them to be smooth rather than a slideshow.

I didn't compare just the S and GS 3, but also the XL, which does have the same res. as the GS 3.

Again, I think you will find that everything is connected and thus all of my post has perfectly suited your points. It isn't just a simple oh processor better therefore that is better etc.

Also I am not bias to the S at all, I have stated that there are faults/weak areas many times and in my review of the S as well:

Cons:

No NFC
No SD card slot and limited internal storage
Non-removable battery
Uses a pentile matrix instead of RGB
Notification LED isn't great

However, most of those things don't bother me too much, if at all now, the only thing that really bothers me is the NLED.

Not only that but if you are wanting to give people advice on the S since you have owned it, then why didn't you answer the OP questions instead of just saying that one line, which isn't true as you just stated in your last post there pretty much and he didn't ask about the front camera at all.

1. Yes. It's a major issue with One X as well. I usually do a lot of browsing and have at least 3 tabs open and every time I switch to any other app (eg. Messaging) and go back to browser, it just reloads. This is ridiculous because sometimes I am typing something on the webpage before switching and I lose everything. Even xda app reloads after switching to messaging. I am thinking of getting GSIII because of this issue. I know I can root and get a custom Rom to make this work but again this is an expensive phone and such a trivial feature of android should work out of the box!

1. I suffer from Wifi error after a system upgrade and now auto-reset after replacing a new one from Costco. But other things work pretty fine

3.Yes, work quite well. But it eats a lot of battery
4.Sometimes drop calls.Also there are some 4G signal issues while using it indoor. But not as worst as Sensation 4G
5. Yes, there are FM tuner.
6. MHL work quite fine. I tested it on a 24" no-speaker-moniter. So don't know how it sounds like.
I suggest that you should wait for a GSIII instead, it will be a lot more better than One S. Replacable battery, upgradable memory(support up to 64 GB micro-SD card) , large battery(that's 2100mAh Vs. 1650mAh HTC One S), and also 2GB of ram(that's HTC One S 's double!!). But it will use Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor instead of quad-core, which means same as HTC One S. The only good thing about HTC One S is good camera, the brilliant HTC Sense 4.0, beats audio, extremly thin and light weight.

PS: If my One S suffer from annoying auto-restarting, can I just return the phone to Costco and grab a GS III??

One S is the best bang for your buck right now in the US. Although i wonder if we are gonna get 4.1 quickly since it looks like a minor upgrade.
