So, the files are all .zip like the rom.. how can I use these files?
You install them in CWM using "Install zip from sdcard"

I have a more general question:

Does changing the kernel ever increase the functionality of a ROM? Like if video play back or the game pad or the streaming media through blue tooth was broken?

Video playback is a combination of kernel & rom you're running, Bluetooth & gamepad are rom dependent.

Thank you so much for answering my questions. Sorry, I have another:

If you re install a Nandroid backup of a different ROM say going from Gingerbread to ICS or vice versa what about the Kernel.

So what I mean is, when you restore a backup don't you have to remember which kernel you were using and switch back to it?

Hi guru's of Play, I just have a small question. I have the Play phone and am wondering why are most of the app's not able to be moved to the SD card? I used the APP2SD app and moved one or two to the SD card but, it keeps crashing. I have the bootloader unlocked and using TEAM Rom. I don't have very many app's downloaded but all the app's are eating the internal memory of the phone and some times slows it down. It would be nice to move some of them to the SD card. Your answer will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried typing the following into terminal emulator/adb shell:
Code:
pm setInstallLocation 2
and rebooting?

I'm sorry Pax, I don't even know what that is. I'm a noob at all this things. I took me 3 weeks to install a the ROM which I have because I didn't know how to do it.

Ok, I installed the Terminal Emulator app, typed the instructions you gave and reboot. I tried to move one app to the SD card and tried it, no joy.

Try doing it through menu -> settings -> apps ->manage apps. It sounds like 1 of two problems, either app2sd is bad, or worst case scenario, your sdcard might be going bad.

Ok, I have done through menu > settings > apps > manage apps, it didn't work out. I will change the SD card and see. I won't be surprised if it bad!

APP2SD brings up that Menu to move apps to SD card and vice versa and as you suspected, the problem is the SD card!!! Damn a 32G card is on it's way out. Should I get a 16G one or a 32G different manufacturer?

I fully formatted the SD card(took almost 3 hours), seems to be working now. It is storing apps which can be moved to the SD card, and not hanging when used. Hope it stays that way. Had this problem before where it would save pictures taken on the camera, did a quick format and it solved it. Didn't think it would need a full format. Thank you Pax.
