Thanks for this. Got my phone rooted in about 5 minutes.

Then promptly managed to restore an invalid backup on top of something (causing a crash loop) and requiring a factory reset.

Is that a record for amount of time before someone screwed their phone up?

It still works. It just says unsupported cuz Google cannot guarantee the security of the phone when you are rooted.

Default Testing Needed: Simpler Root and Recovery

Testing Needed: Simpler Root and Recovery

https://plus.google.com/110604857968...ts/gDurpbhUNnC
Instructions to install CWM on SGS3 LTE variants.

https://plus.google.com/110604857968...ts/8RPFmKPkLcD
Root stock SGS3 ROM by flashing a single .zip.

I need verification from a new SGS3 owner who hasn't rooted yet. Can they follow the directions in these two pages to install CWM and root their phone? Can they provide feedback on what confused them in the instructions and how we can improve those guides?

If these instructions and the new root tool .zip works as expected, then these will replace all current root & recovery threads.

Uh... what are you using to download?

The CWM is a .tar.md5 file, to be used directly by Odin to flash the replacement recovery.

Don't open the file when you download it; you use it as it is in Odin.
