A friend of mine did the airave line upgrade at radio shack and lost his free airave service. Had to start paying 5 bucks a month or something. It had to do with the free service being tied to the original equiptment. They had to remove it for just a few miniutes, and when they put the airave back on the line, it assesed a monthly service charge.

Good important tip Austin, thanks. Luckily I am not actually upgrading the Airave line. It was just used to get preorder in at the upgrade price. My phone is fully eligible on the 1st.

That means you upgraded your Airave line... You can't get the upgrade price without upgrading, even on a preorder, unless I'm some kind of extra-crazy. Watch out... You guys might end up needing Account Services.

By the way, AS is helpful. I was considering a preorder, and my upgrade is also the 1st. That would cost me $50, but the agent said he'd credit me $25 for half of it. My willpower kicked in, and said I'd need some time to think about it. He called back in a few hours as expected (they're west coast by the way), I declined, and he gave me the $25 anyway! Cool.

And for you switchers... Grab the GSIII here and use code TALK4TEN to get the price down to $162. Only the local store can waive activation fees (Wirefly may offer it later, but their price is $180), this includes third-party stores; YMMV, but ask if you wish.

The actual upgrade does not occur until the phone comes in. I can still not get it when it comes in. So that line is never upgraded through Best Buy. This is just to guarantee a phone in my name at the store.

Damn Shane, sorry to see you go my fellow Minneapolitan. GB Dark Horse is still the most bomb ass theme I ever rolled with. I'm getting close to upgrade time myself however and I may just follow you over to SGSIII. Although this old Epic 4g still packs a punch, we'll see. Looking over the comments on this thread is like a taste of who's who of the Epic days. Even KoNane still popping up, damn. Now if the Impaler dropped by....
