Arrow [Q] Hey everyone! Would appreciate your help with my cousin's DHD

Hi everyone! I own a rooted Nexus S with a custom ICS ROM, so I'm pretty familiar with flashing new ROMs using ClockworkMod in general. My cousin asked me to update her phone because it has become quite laggy. I figured I would take a stab at it, but I've run into a few issues.

First, she bought the phone used about six months ago. The guy she bought it from had already rooted the phone and installed a custom GB rom on it (Android Revolution HD 6.1.5). I can't seem to figure out how to boot the phone into recovery mode. ROM Manager has not been installed, and when I try to boot the phone to recovery mode by pressing the vol down button and the power button, it just boots regularly. Here is some of the other info:

Android version:
2.3.5

HTC Sense version:
3.0

Kernel version:
2.6.35.14-RCMIX3D-ACS-ACE-NCR-V10-ge213fe7-dirtyken@klquicksall #9

Baseband version:
12.56.60.25U _26.10.04.03 _M

Build number:
3.06.405.1 CL150597 release-keys

Browser version:
WebKit/533.1

I was going to attempt a full wipe, but I don't want to mess anything up. How would you recommend I proceed? I would like to load CWM onto the phone to make flashing a new ROM as familiar as possible. I was thinking about installing IceColdSandwich 8 AOKP, if that makes a difference. I also might try the most recent version of Android Revolution HD, since that's what she's used to. Whichever is more stable is what I will keep on the phone.

Again, your help is greatly appreciated. Mods, I understand that some of my questions have been answered in other threads, but I would appreciate if you would keep this thread open until I have a solution to my unique situation.

Thanks!

Mike

when the phone is fully booted then choose to reboot in bootloader. From there u can choose recovery. If CWM is not there u can just flash it from command prompt. I would suggest u use 4ext Recovery that is far better than CWM in my opinion.

If the phone is already rooted but laggy maybe u can try to do a data and cache wipe...

^^ I don't have the option to reboot to bootloader, only a full power off. I will try a data and cache wipe, but I've only done it in CWM. I also know nothing about using 4ext, has never been mentioned in the Nexus forum.

How can I do a data and cache wipe without access to the bootloader? Can I just delete specific folders?

That's the problem, when I power on the device while holding volume down, it just boots normally, not into the bootloader. No idea why this is the case.. I'm wondering if I should just do a factory data reset and go from there?

Hi. If you can't reboot into recovery via pressing the volume and power button. Go to Settings and then Power. Unclick the Fast boot checkbox. Now power down the phone completely. And then press the volume and power button. You should now boot into recovery mode. Please click Thanks if this method works for you.

If You still can't reboot in hboot with volume down, You can do this...enable USB debugging, plug the phone to the PC as charge only and then open a CMD as admin and type adb reboot-bootloader, or better adb reboot recovery. In order to do that You must have the drivers installed. Have in consideration that if You don't have a working volume rocker You won't be Able to choose anything unless You use touch recovery.
