First what is your Hboot ?
If you are on 1.25 Hboot then download the attachment and follow this steps via PC :

-connect your phone to PC, and open CMD
-type the following:
1 Locate to downloaded folder (e.g. : if you moved the downloaded file to root of C then you should write this cd c:/android)
2 adb remount
3 adb push vold.fstab /system/etc
4 adb reboot

Edit: i am using this ROM with 1.25Hboot and haven't faced any problem with SDcard mount ..... anyway you can use 3rd party app from playstore to mount the SDcard

There is no reason why they should not work, if you was aloud to remount /system/ did you copy the void file to the same folder as adb.exe?

If you read the OP it says that it may not work so its best to use a 3rd party app to mount the sdcard... I use multi mount sd from play store
