In my opinion at least for the Xperia S the brightness setting is kinda useless: if you chose below 7 (or minimum 6) you won't see the light even if it's not in bright sunlight...
That's true, in light environments I can't see any blinking when the brightness is set below 7.
This is a very fancy app, like it a lot!
I reported this in my comment in playstore... Its not illuminating for messages n calls if using Widgetlocker .. i have Telsa add on for notification on locker screen.. is it conflicting with Illumination app?
Someone else posted previously in this thread that "turn off lights when screen is unlocked" does not work with widgetlocker. but it should work fine otherwise.
Do you have all other settings correct? (Xperia S/P/U, enable check box is set and so on)

I've tried the app and it is very great. Unfortunately, it doesn't support 3rd party messaging apps such as go SMS pro?
It does work with Go SMS. But there is a setting in GO SMS that you need to un-check, so it does not prevent other apps from receiving incoming sms.
Have a look in the help section for this app. It says there how you can fix it.

I created an app that will let an Xperia S/P/U light up the illumination bar when there is an unread SMS or a missed call.
Available at Google Play if you search for "Illumination Bar Notification"
(I'm not allowed post a link yet...)
For U model there is multi color support, and for S/P there is only the one color supported by the hardware.
The LEDs can either blink at various speeds or have a constant light.
There is an option to stop the light when the screen is unlocked or keep blinking until the SMS has been read or the call has been acknowledged.
I have only an Xperia U to develop on, but it has been tried on S/P as well.
If you have any problems let me know and I'll try to fix it.
Thanks to user sl1nk3 that figured out there was an API we can use.
I love this app..just miss whatsapp support..could u make it in a close update?

30mb on mine. I'm guessing it has to do with the internal processes that are already part of Android that load up when this app runs. Total guess though.
