Default No wifi tethering after root

Hi all,

I've posted a thread in the I8150 Generals section, but not had any replies yet. So I'll post it here, as it relates to the rooting methods outline here.

I've used the SD card rooting and unrooting methods.
After rooting, I've found that the built-in wifi tethering no longer works.
I try and I try (as explained the link above), the wifi tethering will not work unless I use a third party app.

I want to restore my phone to factory settings. Completely. I can't seem to be able to do this probably, also as explained in my thread.

Does anyone know how to:
1) get the built-in wifi tethering to work properly again?
2) COMPLETELY return the phone to factory settings? (I believe something about an sbf file is involved?)

Thanks

guyz i'm following the guide in CWM but it wont root. XXLM8 firmware..
weird is that 1 month ago rooted just fine with the same procedure. I'm trying to enter stock recovery mod but when Samsung Galaxy W (i8150) comes and i release the power button the screen switches off and the phone restarts.. After flashing a firmware with odin , Should i first root or install CWM?

The stock recovery is required to root. If you use a custom ROM rooting is not needed. If you install ClockWorkMod you replace the stock recovery -> rooting not possible. Flash the stock recovery.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

Hi,
I bought my phone about 2 months ago and I updated the firmware via Kies.
I would like to know if you think the "Root via recovery mode" will work on my device or not (because maybe the root method works only on old devices?), thanks in advance.

Here are the details.
  • Model code: GT-I8150
  • Android version: 2.3.6
  • Version base band: I8150XXKL3
  • Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-I8150XXLA2-CL869026dpi@DELL170 #3
  • Build version: GINGERBREAD.XXLA2

Thank you.
