I used a ZTE Blade and a Moto Defy in last 1 year and I found that Android is a pretty sh*tty OS compared to the hype around it... lags, battery eating, internet eating, mysterious cpu overloads and so on...
Due to financial reasons I had to return to use my old Touch 3G (Jade) and I can tell you that a good light WM 6.5 rom on that old device is pretty nice to use for common phone purposes... I earn better battery life than never on my 2 android phones.
I don't tell that I would not try a top category droid if I could but now I can live with WM. It is a pity that WM development had been stopped.
... and I hate the kindergarten-style winpho tiles
After reading some of these posts I can't help but notice that Windows Mobile is like that sweet, homey girlfriend you always go back to. Yeah, the hot blonde (iOS) was fun but that was it. The flaming red-head (Android) was a scream but was too high maintenance. The homey brunette (WM) could carry a conversation, cook, clean and nurse a hangover. When you came back to her, she was so appreciative that she would give the ride of your life.
I'm sure we've all been there before fellas so let's not all act as if I'm crazy.

excelently described..
But, I am enjoying red-head at present..
Everybody rags on WM for lagging, freezing and battery pulls, but the short time I had a Droid X was no different. A Droid Pro I used for a considerable amount of time was atrocious for hanging up and looping (tried different ROMs, same sh!t). There's a reason there are so many task managers in the marketplace.
I think those task managers are the reason why things don't work out for them. They wreck everything. Even without, Android closes programs by itself, and that really pisses me off. I've tried everything to override this, and I simply can't figure it out. Nobody else on here has found much on that either.

I'm waiting on an LG Fathom I got on the cheap from eBay because I wanted to try something with a 1 gig processor and native 480x800 resolution to see how it'll work. I use Excel quite a bit and it is almost like a desktop experience, who knew? I'm eagerly awaiting the ARM Surface tablets to see what it's like, but I'm hooked on the Redfly. No 2nd machine to keep synced with data, 8 hour battery and best of all, client-initiated connection with Bluetooth. Phone stays in the holster.
How exactly does that RedFly work? It looks kinda cool from what I read in a brief internet search.

Amen to that. Don't say that around "Windows mobile 7" Fanboys though or they'll make a huge stink about it.

I can't understand why Engadget, Gizmodo and the rest gave this thing such a bad rap. Redfly is my number 1 tool. It is not a tablet or netbook, it doesn't have an OS, memory or anything like that. It is simply a dumb terminal that takes your phone's "screen" and makes it bigger and lets you use a full keyboard. When you connect it to a WinMo phone, the phone's screen goes dark and the Redfly takes over. You navigate as if you're on your phone but it's obviously more comfortable than tiny buttons and tiny screens. You can connect via USB or Bluetooth and like Windows desktop you can view on the LCD screen or mirror with a full size monitor. The Redfly has a VGS port as well. You can even plug in a wireless mouse and it really gets fun. I personally use Bluetooth because once the two devices are paired, you can leave your phone in its holster and you initiate the connection from the Redfly. I think it's awesome since you don't have to sync two separate devices and the battery life is crazy. If you're familiar with the Blackberry Playbook, it's the same theory. The Playbook is useless as far as PIM without the host phone. There are two different models, The C8 only works with WM6 or 6.1 while the C8N supports 6.5. I prefer 6.1 anyway because I find it easier to use the drop-down menus from the start button. Anyway, hope this helps.
I miss it... I passed on my Pocket PC running WM 2003.
Got my eye on a Treo Pro on eBay and may try and snipe it at the last minute. WM 6.1 would be an upgrade from my last user experience which was very good.

@ fatclue... That redfly mobile dock looks awesome. Great Tip.
I see from their site: http://www.celiocorp.com/ that they have plugins for desktop and Android... Free download for Win PC and Android App is $1.99 now on sale for $0.99 USD.
I like the come-on on their site's main page for OEMs and Developers to help make "Any App to Any Display" a reality.
I would love to see Desktop and webOS 2.x phones going with this. It would really help crank up my Veer.

Lol at Gizmondo. Aren't a lot of those sites now just paid by people to give certain things high scores anyway? That's really cool though. I don't have a need for a midsized "tablet" device around the house; a phone for light surfing and searches and a laptop for everything else, but there are situations when one of those machines really could come in handy.
I am still using my SE Xperia X1 (first xperia and the best) with WM 6.5, because wm user interface is very close to desktop Windows. Android, iOS and even WP7 is like a system for kids compared to WM, where is so many settings and configurations, that you always can find something new
I love WM and I will use it till it will be possible
I still use WM2003 on my Mitac Mio 168 and WM5 and WM6.1 on my two Dell Axim x51v. Fantastic operating systems and I much prefer them to the modern ones; the WM ones have given me no trouble or headaches at all since I began using them in 2005.
