Ok, I gave that a try. I am in the heart of West Palm Beach, so definitely not the boonies for me. Thank you for the suggestion.
Here is my steps:
When I checked the APN, It was on ATT (Phone), and had a second option of ATT (wap.cingular) that was not selected.
I clicked menu, and clicked 'reset to default' then it took a moment to reset and when it came back, the option for ATT (Phone) was not available, so I choose ATT (wap. cingular) and reboot.
Is that what should have happened?
You should have had the option for pta come up, which from there the name was to be changed from pta to phone.
Tap "New APN" and name it ATT Phone, then under APN type "phone" and leave all else alone.
If this works you can put the MMS IP address in manually.
I remember there being an att apn zip file for CM9 somewhere... do a search and see if flashing that helps.

stuck on cm9 screenRom last night over cm7 with blue cwm.
Things appeared ok half way through and I saw the message that my apps were being optimized for ics.
On the second boot it gets stuck on the cm9 graphic boot screen.
When I go to recovery half the screen is rainbow and the other half shows some text but not enough to be useable for recovery.
Any suggestions on where I should go from here?
Flash bootloaders. See the second(or maybe third?) post in the thread. Be absolutely sure that you can flash other things with (odin/heimdall, whichever you're using for bootloaders) successfully first, as if the flash is interrupted or fails, your phone is hardbricked.

Follow the bold instructions at the top of the first post telling you not to post until you have completely read the OP and FAQ - which you clearly have not done.
Just wondering, but what's the major difference between this version of CM9 and the new RC1 version?
Only certain devices received RC1 - Obviously this device did not since it isn't even officially part of the project yet.
Tuesday was a major breakthrough - Prior to that it had no chance of getting accepted for inclusion due to too much being broken. Now it has a chance, although I still have a pile of stuff to clean up prior to submitting for inclusion.
For supported devices, the diff between RC1 and nightlies is that the RC1 codebase forked 2-3 weeks ago and is older.

Ok, thank you. I will give that a try and report how it works. So far with what I did the other day, my signal seams to be somewhat better on the cell phone signal, but only a little bit better for data, but it was improvement.

Has anyone had issues with your phone waking up when you press the power button?
I am running the build from the 20th, and sometimes I have to click the power button many times to get it to wake up from a coma.
