I'll do some night test shots later, but in decent light or day light its sharper overall than my 4S. Sometimes by a good degree. It also has wider focusing where as the 4S has a shallower focus range, with less sharp edges.

Default camera firmware

Is there any way to downgrade the camera firmware?
And how it can be done? Because a lot of people with ZDFE02 cf
have noise and blurry pics on low light conditions.

DONATE TO ME
Hey, sorry i didnt check back here after my last post.

Headphones have worked fine since the update, so second reboot required.
Some instances see the camera perform considerably better, others with little to no difference.
As far as downgrading/replacing the firmware goes, im going to investigate some more when i can convince my wee brother to let me have a look at his gs3 properly as he has a completely different firmware to me (phone supplied by 3UK with 3 custom firmware).
If i can find the correct files i will attempt to flash his firmware to my phone and flash mine to his and back again.

Yeah to rephrase my point about the screencaps.

When you hit check camera f/w what it shows you is;
Camera current firmware version.
Available firmware version on the phone.

If these two are different then you can flash the newer firmware shown to be on the phone to the camera using the appropriate button. Otherwise i dont think it does anything.

Sweet.

I think sammy might have changed how a firmware dump is made and it could actually be the file in /etc/firmware
The one thing we need is to know whether camera modules with GDFE01 have metal or plastic casing, cuz if wrong firmware gets installed it might be bad so if ppl that have gdfe01 have metal casing i could try change my zdfe02 and upgrading/downgrading firmware might as easy as just swapping the files in /etc/firmware. Dont wanna risk it now though )

I think Galaxy S3 uses two different camera modules. The Sony module
which is the best and the samsung module which is crap. The first phones with Sony module went to reviewers and the rest to retailers in order to reduce the cost.

they might be doing this to meet the enourmous demand, cuz they cant probably get Sony modules in all S3s dunno it sucks really, I love the phone, but I'm dissapointed a bit. The bigger the corporation the less they care about a few hundred thousand customers with problems with the camera

Do we have confirmation of two different modules? And how can we tell which one we have?

I have ZDFE02 on mine, a brand new 32gb Vodafone UK international version.

Not really happy with Night Time performance but not sure if it's a good module or bad module. Maybe I'm being fussy. But the 4S has been better at night shots compared to this one and my last 16gb version.
