Since it seems to be impossible to find anything about the 2.3.5 update and development on it, I have started this thread in hopes to either find some or start some. Any confirmed information would be nice. Anything as simple as a successful root to custom ROMs and tweaks would be nice. The only thing I can find is back when it first came out with 2.1 so lets get back on tbe game.

(Off topic: I just traded in my Milestone X2 for the Showcase today. [I had one when they first came out. Long story.] So I will be in here for now.)

I have managed to find a lot for us 2.3.5 Showcase C Spire users so I will make a reference thread.

A few of the instructions are wrong in the "getting root.txt" file.
Fisrt off, You need to put your phone into Download mode after moving the zip file to your phone. (Hold "Volume -" as you plug the phone up to the USB)
Secondly, You can skip the "Update your phone to 2.3.5 on Kies part. You should already have it
and Last Steps "8 - 10"

8. open a command prompt (windows-r -> cmd)
9. nav to the adb directory (cd .....)
10. type the command "adb reboot recovery" at the prompt to reboot in recovery mode"

are no good.
Just power off the device and once it is off hold down the Vol + and Vol - buttons an turn it back on should take you right in to the recovery menu.
The rest is correct!
NOTE: If you lose data, just call *228 on your phone!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!
This is a leaked modem.bin for the C Spire Showcase. (Updated service and data settings pretty much)

Put your phone in Download mode (Hold "Volume -" as you plug the phone up to the USB) and open ODIN. Open the modem.bin file in the "Phone" section. (Leave pit, PDA, and CSC BLANK!) and click start. When your phone reboots, you are done!
My internet is very fast now!

I did not create these. I just found them. Credit goes to everyone involved with the creation. Anymore development would be nice like tweaks, kernels, etc.

Nice find! Come to find out... That is the leaked 2.3.6 for C spire. NICE. I am flashing the modem.bin now xD Added to the ROMs too

You guys are A) just in time making this thread for me and B) my guardian angels, delivering me from slow speeds! As soon as my battery hits 100%, I'm gonna rock this! Anyone know how battery life on 2.3.5 rooted is? Any great CSpire Showcase ROM's out there able to make this battery life survive over a day?

Hey guys, I just happened to see this thread, some good info for CSpire users.

Also wanted to make y'all aware that Stephenspear426 is doing CSpire builds of his ICS ROMs, CM9 Nightly Kangs and AOKP Glitched builds.

Everything works, including MMS, and carrier text is set up to show CSpire Wireless.

For more battery life, I have THESE, and they work great! Just make sure you have a kernel that supports 3rd party batteries, or you can't charge them in the phone.

Glad to see some other Cspire users out there.
