DONATE TO ME
|
I just had an idea for a great app that I don't see anywhere. What if we had a way to force our phones to roam when connected to certain WiFi access points? Bad reception at home (like me)? No problem. Just enter the SSID of your home network and whenever the phone connects to that access point, it switches to roaming. Since it is connected to WiFi, it wouldn't use any data roaming, so you won't get kicked by sprint. But your phone would be able to reliably send/get/stay on calls. Horrible reception at work? Put an SSID from your workplace in, and whenever it connects to that WiFi, it goes into roam mode.
Of course, when you leave that area and your tagged access points drop, the phone goes back into "automatic" mode instead of "roam only". I could probably do it for my own WiFi at home just by diddling the smali code in Phone.apk. But this would be better written by a dev who has more experience writing full apps (rather than a hacker like me). My purpose for posting this is: anyone heard of any mods, apps, or otherwise that already do this? I thought maybe I'd find a Locale plugin that already exists but I come up with nothing.
