Just got my Virgin Mobile (USA) One V. Similar to saket_oo, I successfully unlocked my bootloader, but then I flashed Clockworkmod via fastboot, seemed to push no prob, except when going into recovery via bootloader it shows a white HTC screen with "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute..." and stuck there. Tried other recoveries (TWRP), same thing happened.

Curiously, the main (stock) ROM still worked fine, hence the phone still works, albeit in cannot-root limbo. I am now am afraid to flash anything else on there, in case I lose CDMA. Any ideas how I can get myself into recovery? I've tried "fastboot erase cache" and even using stock recovery from international One V's (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1676686, link no longer on page but stock recovery is still somewhere there), neither worked.

The CWM I used in the first place is from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1635520

Somebody help! Could this be a matter of Virgin Mobile being incompatible with international recoveries, perhaps intentionally? I now regret not taking a look at the stock recovery before flashing cwm, cwm worked so well for my last phone.

It is very unlikeley that Virgin has made modifications to the rom itself, so first I advise you to flash back the stock recovery and try the custom flash a reboot later (CWM or touch recovery).
If it still won't load then it could be a system memory problem at recoveries partition, but won't say anything about that from here.
Have you tried logcat?

-------update from me

Haven't read the CDMA part, sorry then it is the problem.

Ah I see, thanks for the info! Does CDMA simply make all custom tampering incompatible, or is it an issue of build and I can (hopefully) wait for a CDMA build of the recovery and ROM?

So, no luck still, thanks for the reminder though. Will now gladly be the test volunteer for any effort at making a CDMA recovery. =\

I... I'm embarassed to say I don't have the very stock recovery it came with anymore, thought it won't brick the phone anyway (which is correct, stock ROM still works fine), so didn't even investigate how to make a backup of the recovery. Know anywhere I can look for it?

This is In continuation of my data wipeout on phone mem followed by the BL unlock.....
The apps and games were stored on my phone memory so like other files in memory card they must have been untouched........ (Since data on my sdcard is same as before )
So its like 1.5 gig on my card is lying waste....
Does someone know how to remove these nstallation files ????????????
My Devices:
current: NOKIA E71 (hacked by CODERus)
earlier: HTC One V stolen, NOKIA E63(hacked by CODERus)

Hi,

I tried this Tut and everything worked apart from the rooting process. The first time I had presumed it was rooted but when I downloaded a root-checker fro Google Play, it stated that my phone was not rooted and also superuser permission was never given to apps that required it, this was after I had updated the SU app binary.

I am trying to root it again properly but it restarts the phone after I click 'install-superboot-windows' without rooting it. What do I do? Do I start from the unlocking bootloader stage again?

This normally happens because the boot.superboot.img is not replace with the modded one.

To make thing easier, go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/htconev/files/
There are a few superboot files, download the one that relevant to your device and use it to root your device.

You don't need to start from the unlocking bootloader stage, just extract the zip file and run the "install-superboot-windows" and the phone will restart after you click the script.
