In my early 30's and send under 1000 a month myself. I think its because a lot of the younger people on this planet don't really care about wasting anything. I could get up 5000 too if I sent one word text messages all the time. I think about want I want to say before hand and send one or two messages instead of a bunch of small ones.
Example:
Data Wasteful teen:
1 Hey
2 What's going on?
3 What are you up to tonight?
4 Will be free after 8 if you want to hang out.
My text messages.
1 Hey what are you up to? What's going on tonight? Free after 8 if you want to hang out.
They send 4 messages to do the same thing I do in one, it's not only wasteful but obnoxious too.
Becides text is supposed to be a backup when you can't talk on the phone. I don't have the patience to deal with someone just sitting there refusing to pick up the phone and talk. These are the people who drag out a 5 min conversation over voice into a 30 minute 100's of texts conversation. Screw that, stop wasting my time and data. Unlimited is not an excuse to waste.

At this point I would be willing to put the last little bit of savings I have on a bet that Verizon is stockpiling phones for retail sales first instead of shipping preorders like every other company. We will see Verizon retail stores get this phone on or close to release day. Its not going to be like all the other companies that sent out preorders and didn't get the phone locally until weeks later. Verizon could care less about loyality and people who plan ahead and preorder. Its all about the money; grubbing donkey holes.
