Great work man! need more Canadians helping our boys out. I have a question. Would it be a wise idea to flash i896 bootloaders or just stick with the i897 kk4 loaders on my at&t captivate? sorry for the noob question. Just wondering if the resources would give me any benefit to devil kernel regarding devil idle, which always freezes me up. Also modem functionality benefits, if any at all through rogers. I've been using jl3 kp1 recently jk4 which seem to work the best.

actually most people have found the i9000 GB bootloaders to have the best results, regarding sleep deaths, ect.

if you have never tried to wake your phone and it wouldnt turn on without pulling the battery, dont worry about it. or if you want to get rid of the ugly ass- att bootscreen, flash the rogers ones, or use the bootscreen replacer mod in my signature. there is ZERO difference in the hardware between rogers and att captivate. you could also use the rogers stock rom odin packages (also in signature) on the att phone. to get the bootloaders.

I'm wondering if this would work on a stock KK4 rom, but I assume those have the HSUPA caps.

Any ROM will work, you have to use a kernel that supports hspa and or audience chip

Yeah, I meant kernel. I wish someone would make one.

I don't see it happening. With the recent rush of new devices like the gnex and s3 things look like they will be slowing down for the cappy. And there was only one kernel developed to run the dual mics and it was for jvu i9000 iirc

I have a year and a half left on contract. I'll probably just buy a gnex. Lots of them for sale around $300 to $350.

development slowed down almost a year ago... more and more as the days go by. you are a little late to the party...

but if you happen to "move" or "get a job" in a location that does not have your carriers service, you can get out of your contract for free.

I just got a job in the northern bush of alberta where i am stuck in the middle of nowhere for 15 days at a time, and rogers does not have service here, so I'm out of my contract for free next week when i can get to a bell store to sign up a new contract (they have service on site here). I called rogers, gave them the location of where i work, and when i have bell take over my phone number, and i get the cancellation bill from rogers i just call them back and say to read my user notes on my location change, and the charges get scrubbed.
