+1
It doesn't really matter what clothes I wear
Or how I fare or if my hair is brown
When it's only a Northern song.

What's the benefit of modifying the baseband? I don't think I've fiddled with mine at all unless the switch to CM9 modified it.

Each radio/modem that were leaked have different performance for people and also depends on the area they're located at which will determine the overall performance results so people will try to mix different ones to see if it works for them. Everyone will have different experiences so its really up to the user which one they want to use. The latest one being UCLF5 (ATT leak) is the current one I'm using and its working for me fine, some people opt to use an older one or use a different one (rogers).

So while CM9 is the actual OS, you can switch the radio/modem and kernels (made for CM9) to whichever ones you prefer.

LG Nexus 4 - PA 3.1 // motley kernel // twrp recovery || motley voltage || TPU || Hybrid || Ringke
Samsung Skyrocket - Stock 4.1.2 // cwm recovery // voltage/benchmark

Is design gear one designed for cm9? Or there is another one specifically for aosp. I want to the new baseband to see if here is any improvement.

Alright, added UCLF5 to my phone; it'd be nice to see how it does in some of the buildings I work in being made of unobtanium block all radio signals.
