I've always wondered why Google/Motorola/Verizon never pushed the Google Android Experience in their ads. It probably would've helped sales.

In the meantime collecting information. I found the the reviews of Xoom with ICS to be pretty solid. IMO I would be very surprised if motorola releases another update for xoom 1.

I will just have to flash the US version to get 4.1.
Weeks ago,? You sure they didn't jack you?

Just got one from a friend for $180, and while the performance in ICS is nice, I'm looking forward to JB.
I was wondering this also. I got a GSM 3g model, and flashed it to a wi-fi only model then picked up OTAs no problem. I feel that the FE should be able to do that same process. right now the are selling Refurb FE on Motorola's site for pretty cheap too.

Unfortunately no. The Xoom FE is an entirely different piece of hardware and is a Xoom in name only. Also I don't believe that the Xoom FE has an unlockable bootloader.

that's... interesting, and a little disappointing. So the FE isn't a GED then?

I was pleasantly surprised that ICS was already officially available, and was hoping that JB would be coming later this month

ah well

Yeah, it's definitely disappointing, but no, the Xoom FE is most definitely not a GED.

Soooo I live in the UK - have a US flashed WiFi Xoom... will I get JB or is it done regionally via IP address etc? I did get an OTA update to 4.04

The xoom has been off for a few months.. my son used it as a skateboard and scratched the screen badly so I lost interest a bit... but a few days ago I flashed ICS on my HD2 and thought about flashing the xoom to try and regain interest in it... but if JB is round the corner I'll hang on for a bit!

you will get OTA to JB if you have stock US image with stock recovery etc.

Thanks.

Have to admit that my Xoom is a bit on the heavy side!

That's why I love it. It doubles as an assault weapon! Someone breaks into my house, I crack them over the head with the Xoom. I win, then use it to post about it on Twitter while I wait for the cops.
