You could have a bad battery. Contact HTC tech support. Or restore your phone to factory and see if it does it still. If it does not then you probably had a bad flash or download if whatever custom ROM you are using.

Mine has done the same. It was shutting down several times a day for a while, but only seems to do it every few days now. It's not a reboot, its a shut down. I have stock Telus ICS, S-On, rooted, 4Ext.

It's the battery. The random shut-down issue stopped when I switched to Anker 1900 mAh battery. It lasts probably 40% longer and most importantly, no random shut down / reboot in the last week or so.

I had the same issue. Tried a new battery, factory reset, different ROMS, nothing worked.
But I didn't give up. I formatted the microSD and since then the phone is working PERFECTLY.
Here are the steps I took:
1) Format the microSD from the phone
2) Format the microSD from Windows
3) Flashed stock ROM (I was using Energy)
4) OTA update to ICS
5) Enjoy

Try it. If it doesn't work, change de SD. Maybe you're lucky as me ^^

I was going to recommend something similar to this. So I decided to take out my sd card last week, and ever since then, I haven't had any random reboots out shut downs. Even after I put the sd card back in, I've been getting significantly less reboots - only once in the past 3-4 days.

just boggles me why you guys are having these kind of problems with your device when i've had mine for nearly a week (bone stock) no batt issue, no self rebooting issue and so forth and i'm not really looking to do anything crazy with it aka rooting. The only thing that I kinda notice is that the battery life does takes a toll.. with heavy use (web browsing, watching movies, playing games etc) i get about 6-7 hours with 30% life after... i guess it depends on how you use it on a daily basis.
