I have been trying the wire trick for about an hour and half and want to revert back to normal. The phone is stuck at the black screen and I have tried trouble shoot step four. I used the temp root and entered the ControlBear.exe -r command but it just ran Controlbear as if I had opened it and once again asks for the wire trick method. Any suggestions?

You typed the cm and wrongly
There is extra "e" at the end

If it still didn't work try this
controlbear -r

Hi,

I have been working hard to get my device (HBOOT 1.27) S-OFF and Rooted.

Today I received the message that a new OTA update is available for download.

My question:

Can I perform the update without loosing S-OFF and ROOT?

OTA doesnt mess up SOFF ..infact nothing can mess SOFF unless you manually change it

but ROOT ..will be gone i think ..but i have a doubt here too ..normally when complete OTA (gb to ics) comes...it wont install when your device is rooted ....but this is small OTA which might be small...so with root it might install

Thanks for the guide! It worked for me. I don't think my phone is under warranty anymore, but I used this anyways instead of using HTCdev. Was there any benefit for me following this, or would it have been easier to just use the normal method?
