I think you use Win7 and not XP?

If you use XP, there will be no problem.

Otherwise...
Install VirtualBox:
https://www.virtualbox.org/
Than you need a Win7-Image. You can start the Win7-Image in this virtual machine (if you see it, you can handle it ), install the Acer-drivers and use the adb commands.

Thanks marlopainter for this tool!

Just to share, I wasn't able to root using the dedicated button. It failed at the beginning because I didn't have a "tools" folder (no folder actually in the data folder).

Thanks to your FAQ, I used the file "ICS_rooting_A10x_A5xx.zip". I think it copied the tools.

My A510 is rooted!

Thanks again!

Same, I wasn't able to root using this AIO tool either.
I just used the SH file in the zip above. Rooted tablet.
Thank you for thanking!

I also have Ubuntu 12.04..is there a way of doing it there? I am not being able to see the files of my tablet in Ubuntu though, as I do in Windows 8.

Have you tried doing it inside WINE?
(Just throwing ideas, I've never personally tried WINE in Linux yet. I lost my Ubuntu partition before having the opportunity to try it.)

The Acer drivers for this do not work on Vista. Why in the world would they skip Vista Support? All of my computers use Vista. Does anyone know of any workarounds?

In all honesty vista was a failure in the same way windows me was back in the day. That being said vista is pretty close to windows 7 so I don't know why they wouldn't work in vista. I'd say install windows 7 instead. You'll thank me later.

I skipped Vista too. I was with WinXP SP3 until 2 weeks ago when I shifted to Win7 (32 bit still).

As installing a new OS is kinda drastic, I recommend contacting Acer support instead, I'm sure they have a workaround for it.

Have you tried using the compatible mode? Right click the program and use windows XP sp3 as a mode.

This may sound stupid but did you start the "setup.exe" instead of "Acer Iconia Tab Driver install.msi" ? I did this mistake (under win7) a few times because this files looks so obvious to use. It starts fine and let's you choose options, starts to install and stop with an error it had no access to its install folder. I tried it again and again because I did not recognize any fault by my side ... till I realized .. oops better use "setup.exe" .
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
