Unfortunately, as much as I have enjoyed Holo Launcher in the past , I am afraid it is time to part ways. It has become laggy and often unresponsive...It even manages to lock up my phone after a few hours of use. I have a dual core 1.0 GB processor and am running very few widgets and/or screens.
Furthermore, most of the features found in the new "Plus" version are already standard in other launchers that are free and can be skinned to look and act like ICS without the performance slowdowns.
$3.99 just to get multiple configurable drawer tabs, unread count notifications for call, sms and gmail, additional desktop gestures, transition effects, widgets overlapping and 1x1 widgets in the dock? Really?
These aren't "Plus" level features...most of these are standard in the majority of launchers...launchers that are free and consistently benchmark better than Holo Launcher. These are things that users have been asking for as simple performance enhancements for quite some time. Instead of fixing them, they've been re-branded as "special features". It's the equivalent of buying a nice sports car only to be told that the key to start it is a "special feature" and will require an additional purchase.
It would appear that instead of taking an opportunity to iron out the bugs and make it more functional first, the author has chosen instead to go commercial with a product that clearly isn't ready to be paid for.
I wish the dev all the best and I hope his commercial venture proves successful. I mean that sincerely. I always like to see someone make good and get paid for their hard work. However, the product is marginally good at best and certainly not ready enough for my continued use or for access to my wallet.
That all said, I'm back to ADW EX and occasionally Nemus...
