Did you try Nova launcher? I'm using Nova and it's smooth as silk

Is there a way to disable wallpaper scrolling, or disable cropping?
The black edges around the wallpaper is a bit annoying.

If you have light manager installed, update it from the Play store

Download Quickpic from android market and install it. Then crop wallpapers using Quickpic. It will crop them at the right size for scrolling wallpaper

Sorry meant to say choose "Set as Quickpic wallpaper"
