You might want to try that test just to make sure it is ok before you mod it..

30 minute Stress Test, no reboots. The back was hot though....

Yeah, you can always return and try another Asus if you get a lemon (Buy from a reputable place no matter the cost). I was going the Asus route originally with the Transformer but with all the early issues I bought the Galaxy Tab 10.1 instead... Still running fine, no issues. With it finally getting ICS it should make for a nice tablet for my girlfriend who doesn't care about full HD. After this Acer i'm never going back to 1280x800...ever.

Good luck!

Mine is staying. I have no display bleeding or discoloration issues, and while it does get warm, it's never been hot enough to worry me. I don't do much cpu-intensive gaming. The only serious complaint I have is the input lag/insensitivity, and that will (hopefully) get sorted out with a firmware update.

DONATE TO ME
I'm keeping. 69c was about the highest I got with benchmarking. She gets a touch warm, but with the cover, I don't notice.

So is it Gorilla Glass or not? Some say yes and have the information to back that up but have yet to point someone where they found that out :)

This site claims it's Gorilla Glass 2, and I believe them.

http://www.bestandroidblog.com/

Acer did say in January that they were going to use Gorilla Glass 2 on their products-

On a high end tablet like the A700, I couldn't imagine them skimping in any way.

Well feoolw A700 owners sadly I have to throw in the towel and return my pad. I have read every post, review, info, pros annd con about this device and tried to find all kinds of reason to hold on to it but no matter how I try there are some glaring evidence that says "send it back" :
1) Everyone says sound it great, I cannot get no good sound out of the unit. watching a netflix flick can bearly hear the audio with the settings full.
2) screen sentivity is high yet if i do not press hard no response on screen.
3) I do not have problem with heat on back of unit but on front my screen get extra hot in the lower right corner.

I have made numerous comparison with this tablet to my hp touchpad running android, and a cheap chinese tablet (zenithink zt-282 c-91 upgrade) and they are performing so much better. I have yet to see in my a700 anything that can convince me that I am running a tegra 3 cpu. I cannot even complete an Antutu benchmark test.
I AM SENDING IT BACK.
I will buy another cheap chinese tab until either Acer get things fixed or other pads comes out, some like the Lenovo or Heuiwei or so. I do not want to get stuck with this if Acer cannot or will not fix.

I am thinking of that cheapo chinese tab using rockchip RK 3066 or Allwinner A10 SoC. The youtube videos shows them performing better that the A700 that I have. I know that they cannot compare to quality but 1 with a res of 1200x800 will tie me over till later when I go back to a 1920x1200.

You people have any feedback on those cheap tab I mentioned?

My first a700 had something under the screen but my 2nd has been running like a champ. Screen is gorgeous, runs fast and just gets warm when playing games. No reboots so far and I've had it a couple weeks.

Just wanted to report that to say there are some out there working well.

Of course, as soon as the Transformer Infinity is available I'll probably sell this guy. The killer flaw for me is it doesn't seem to support USB ethernet. I also like the Asus keyboard dock and Asus updates frequently so it should get Jelly Bean quick while I'm not holding my breath from Acer. (Prove me wrong, Acer!)

EDIT: Sounds like they definitely need to improve quality control though... Android Central seems to have got a dud.
