Default Cm9 account & sync.

Is there an option in cm9 to turn off the account and sync as there is in cm7 and tw? The one that actually tells u that your saving battery by turning it off and the market won't work unless its enabled? Cuz I see that the market always updates as soon as I connect my internet so I'm thinking if there was a way to disable the sync then I would save a little more battery when I'm using the internet correct? So I see there is not actual setting for this since the account and sync being "off" doesn't have the same effect as it did in other roms. So would freezing the market and market updater be the same as turning off the account and sync that I'm looking for?

So the market not breaking doesn't waste a little battery everytime I connect to the internet because the market checks for updates? Is there a way to stop the market from checking for updates so that I can save a tiny bit more battery?

Okay so after going back to a tw ROM I've realized that I was a little misleading in what I actually wanted.
I don't want to disable accounts & sync, because that is the option that is found in cm9 already. What I meant was background data. Is there a way to turn off background data so that apps don't sync or do whatever they do and waste battery?
