In the beginning I wasn't happy with my charge either. Pretty sure I'm not alone on that. I bitched a little but found ways around the issues with the help of the devs. Yes, you shouldn't have to fix a device you paid good money for. It should work correctly. I'm not new to technology and I work in IT and nothing really seems to work correctly out of the box. Everything needs some sort of tweaking.
That being said if it's not a pure hardware issue and with research you can solve the problem you end up better in the end. You don't have to rely on clueless help desk people and you learn more about your device. I came from the horror show that was the BB storm and that was a p.o.s. device.
Bitching about your device just because you want a newer, better one just makes it more expensive in the long run. Verizon has to recoup the loss somehow and it ends up costing everyone more. My gf got her tbolt replaced afer 3 crap ones because it was a bad device. Verizon understood and made good. Crying because you want a free upgrade to a new phone costs us all. Tmobile may offer better upgrades but if the service is bad, what's the point? They don't have the money to invest in towers because they are giving stuff away.
Well, I just received shipping notification for my 16gb pebble blue SGS III. As of Monday, I will no longer be a part of the Charge community
I really hope the RIL is sorted out and the Charge gets some AOSP love. It's a really good phone, and besides the ingrained lag it has because of crappy specs, I never had a problem with it in terms of data drops or screeching, etc.. It's just impossible to run this phone hard and not experience awful lag, and it is at times frustrating for me because I use my phone for everything and expect a lot out of it. For those that have hardware problems or can't stand the lag, I hope you guys get a good replacement or early upgrade. For those sticking it out, despite the lack of dev this phone has received since it's inception, Tweaked is an awesome ROM. I would have easily waited it out for another 6 months had not they thrown these new plans at us. Having said this, in the future, since I'm such a flashaholic, I know to go after a flagship handset that will have a crapload of dev support.
Current Phone: Samsung Galaxy S III
Current ROM: CarbonRom
Current Kernel: Leankernel

Like other people have alluded to, you aren't going to be able to do much with that SGS3. Bootloader is locked and possibly encrypted. No root until that's figured out. May be a very long time. Probably never get custom kernels.

Apparently the same dev was also able to flash a custom kernel to the recovery partition, which is a workaround, albeit not a very feasible one for developmental purposes. Yes, the locked bootloader sucks, but the phone stock will be 10x better than my Charge, so I'm not worried in the least. There will no doubt be a bunch of ROM's available to suit my flashing needs in the future. I plan on running stock for the first few weeks anyway to see how this puppy runs out of the box. I've grown accustomed to not flashing things for weeks/months with the Charge.
I am certainly not happy about what Verizon did, but it's not going to make me return the phone and lose my unlimited plan. I have faith in the devs. It's only been two fricken days since the phone got into anyone's hand, lol. The official release date isn't even until Tuesday!!

Verizon Share everything suckz a$$, you can keep your plan of unlimited data when you upgrade but when your next upgrade comes along you have to change it if you want discounted price for the phone, for me i go to da internet to get me a cheap phone...only new customers have to get the share everything plan if they getting a more than one device...if its jst a phone then they can get the onld 2gb for $30...so if you have unlimited data on Verizon you dnt have to change if you dont want to....oh yea if u got one line unlimited and den you add new line dats when you have to change all lines to da share everything...now you can go around that by separating the lines like the new line on a separate account.
