The point is that you've probably never seen speeds on Verizon or AT&T reaching almost 72mbps, which is the actual real world peak on 10Mhz downstream LTE sector. Verizon's LTE is almost 2 years old, so AT&T is probably gonna give you faster throughput in their brand new unloaded areas.
And finally, in NYC you can't get on the tower lol. Small sites and repeaters are everywhere. They follow you as Verizon has them on every corner, every entrance of almost every business.
I used to get in the 60's regularly here in Dallas and the highest I have recorded is 66. I stopped doing speed test because I know LTE is fast. Have done a few more since getting my SGSIII and getting high 40's to mid 50's. Not sure about all of Texas but ATT's LTE is faster and more consistent in Dallas based on my phone on ATT and my Verizon LTE Jetpack hotspot. Was just kidding about climbing the towers!
