Do other Vz phone offer this now?
The rezound does it too.

Reading this thread is really enlightening about people's (lack of) short term memories.

Dual core phones were on the horizon yet when the TB rolled around. The bionic was supposed to launch around the same time, but was held back for quite awhile. There were even rumors that they would just drop it and move on. It never had the specs to really blow anything, much less the TB, out of the water. Oh, and lollockedbootloader.

For those of you that pay attention to how these things are built, it appears to be hard to cram the LTE antenna in with umpteen million cores. This is why the TB was limited to single core, and why it took the bionic so long to have both. Look at the SGS2 skyrocket. It's a gs2 with LTE antenna, but without the quad. Same principle folks.

The rezound is nice, but it came waaay after the TB, and is almost like its successor. Lol at the people who point out rezound specs when being critical of the bolt. It's like me talkin' smack on my family's gateway PC from 1999 because it doesn't have a quad like my current one does.

I've looked at the Rezound but, silly as it seems, I've become used to the kickstand and I use it! If I got a Rezound I'd need to get a kickstand case and then a larger belt holster to fit the larger case and then...... so I'll save my money and stick with the T'bolt.

Well, there's a reason why the Rezound was deemed as the Thunderbolt 2 originally and also good reason why it was renamed as well.
1.) They knew the Thunderbolt was a little behind the times by the time they got it out the door, which they continue trying to fix some small wrinkles to this day.
(fine, devs have made most issues go away)
2.) Easier then making that device function as they intended, they released a new revision of it: The HTC Rezound(Tbolt 2)
3.) They knew with the shortcomings and delay of the Thunderbolt, it would have likely been a huge ordeal if the Thunderbolt 2(Thunderbolt HD) came out that shortly after the Thunderbolt original. Not to mention the name may have turned away anyone that had bad feelings about the Thunderbolt launch.

Anyway, I guess my point is that the Rezound was originally intended as a replacement for the Thunderbolt, so that they could phase it out that much faster, having a similar device to fill the void.
But all of this is based on my readings and opinions and am just sharing my point of view on it.
I wouldn't sacrifice my Bolt for a Rezound, much the same as I won't pay full retail for the Inc 4G LTE(VZW gimped HTC One wanna-be) or lose my Unlimited over it at a discount.
They(VZW) keep shooting HTC in the foot....way to go Big Red.

I sure hope the One XXL does come to Verizon(as rumored), as that's the only device I have heard any word about, that sounds worthy of my money for full retail price in the near future.

Sorry for the long read... 0_0

I'm not too happy with my TBolt, but I knew what I was getting into. I wanted to get a 4G phone while unlimited 4G was still an option, and the TBolt launched with unlimited 4G hotspot. I had an inkling that the hotspot would be disabled through a future update, which is why I've never updated!

Free, legal, unrooted, unlimited 4G hotspot is the way to go. Plus, at less than 10GB/month, I'm fully within Big Red's ToS.

It's disappointing that we don't yet have ICS. If we get it by the end of the year, I'll be able to keep my phone for a while longer. If not, eBay!

RootzWiki has a dev or two still putting out new stuff for our TBs. Might be worth a look if you're feeling a bit forgotten.

I doubt it's HTC's fault. In fact, they've probably had ICS for the Thunderbolt for longer than most of you think.

Verizon guys, it's Verizon that makes great phones like the Galaxy S III and Droid X have locked bootloaders, it's Verizon that just has to middleman Android OTAs and inject a three servings of crapware, and heck, Carrier IQ at this point. No but if that rumor of Verizon kicking us all off of Unlimited Data around April 2013 is true (and no, I didn't just make this up, it's over at one of these other threads here in Thunderbolt, man I forget...) then I'll flock to Sprint or prepaid so fast the rep won't have time to "interest" me in a Droid Locked Bootloader .

Anyway, example- remember the Droid X Gingerbread update, the Thunderbolt GB update, they leaked MONTHS before Verizon OTA'd 'em.

There is no way I would go back to Sprint. What a joke to sell LTE phones with zero or one cities with LTE! I will go back to US Cellular first. At least they had great customer service and is deploying LTE at a quick rate.

Stop being doom and gloom and at least wait for VZW to say that they aren't pushing anything.

As for devs, liquid dropped support from the bolt. So unless he publishes the source for his RIL and/or we get another dev willing to help us, unless VZW does push ICS we probably won't ever see anything new for the Bolt.
