just want to throw in here, my aunt's archos G9 tablet charges over standard microUSB, as does the kindle fire, and the blackberry playbook. its really not a downfall of USB as much as the tablet's designers.

EDIT:

also, the asus transformer charging cables are proprietary USB cables.

as does the Samsung galaxy line:

EDIT2: turns out that the Asus transformer cable is actually a USB 3.0 cable.... hm.....

Not that this will change anything, but my daughter's iPad charges on a USB cable if it's plugged into the wall, but not from the computer (it may trickle charge, but it's hard to say). Much as I like the Iconia, the designers missed big on this aspect.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of Boos against short, proprietary cables, wall bricks to carry around and to leave in hotel rooms, and non-folding AC prongs sticking through backpack innards. USB is a genuine advance in technology. It's a shame the designers chose not to use it.

The Nook's do charge over usb. They just recessed the power pin so you NEED barnes and nobles usb cable. My A500 charges ridiculously fast with the ac adapter compared to any other device I have. I think acer just wanted to make more cash on ac adapters.

Question Iconia Tab USB Chargeable?

There are wall and car chargers that put out 1.8A and 2.1 A via USB, probably intended for tablets.

Do you think that these be used to safely charge the Iconia tablets (I have an Acer Iconia A210) ?

Thanks.
