I would love too, but the author hasn't posted another download link. I would really love to test it, so if the author or someone else couple please upload it somewhere that would be appreciated.

For what it's worth, I agree that JPG does give above average battery life compared to others I have tried lately, including JVT, JVU, KC1, KG3. I also find it gives decent reception speeds in my location. JP5 I believe is even better for battery, however, is slower on the speed tests, especially in building penetration. JPG does appear to have 850 enabled as well.

Good to know! I'm using JPG as well after stumbling across it the other night, never having heard of it before. I haven't ran into speed tests with it, but I didn't appear to have any networking slowdowns and I had heard good things about it. Nice to have an opinion from someone living so close to me. Thanks!

Default JPG calling and 3G issues

Hi, I've been using JPG modem for the last week and I had a lot of issues during phone calls. Either I was not hearing anything or the other person was not hearing me. At the beginning I thought it's rom or kernel related, but yesterday I changed the modem to JQ1 and now everything is back to normal. JQ1 has also good battery.

Also I experienced problems with JPG regarding 3G data connection. My phone was not switching to 3G anymore, after I switched to 2G.

I'm on SlimICS 4.2 Vodafone Romania.

EDIT 11.07.2012: I found the source of the NO SOUND problem during phone calls: it is not the modem but SPIRIT FM RADIO. I will probably give JPG one more chance

Modem doesn't have anything to do with gps quality. nor with wifi.

I think the modem (baseband) is the driver responsible for voice and data only. So gsm and gprs (2g, 3g, etc).
For wifi and gps there are other drivers.
I also think that on iphones the baseband is actually a set of drivers for voice, data, gps, wifi, etc and maybe this is why people think it's the same on Android.

Also, I have tested all the modems in my signature and I didn't see any differences in GPS or wifi signal strength. Only in voice clarity, data speed and battery consumption.
