Thought I would start a central thread for APN settings as I have been noticing everyone wanting to swap SIMs and roam other carriers but forgetting they need the proper APN or they will get bubkus for data. :D

Not sure if I'm out of line by asking here, but do you only need to add APNs when you are using an unlocked phone on various carriers?

Does the Name matter? My phone (on Bell Mobility) defaulted to all the correct information except for the name. Will this affect my LTE connectivity if I don't have "LTE" in the name?

I'm on Fido (HTC One X from Rogers) and the above APN's didn't work for me, here's what did:

All in one APN

Name: fido internet
APN: internet.fido.ca
Username: fido

MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 370

Leave everything else blank.

Before, when I used the APNs from above (split) I couldn't MMS or get Visual Voicemail texts, now I can do both. Hope this helps.

The suggestion is that , put these APN settings into /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
, would be more convenient if u have two different SIM cards...

Im confused here... Can't you only have one active apn at a time? If that's the case what apn should i enter to get only hspa+ and the ability to send and receive mms?
Thanks in advance!

AT&T It always goes back to LTE no matter what I do. It wont let me delete the default apn either if that helps you figure it out

You shouldn't disable LTE using a different APN (I mean, you can, I think, by using a Cingular APN or something, but you don't need to). There's a key combo you put into your phone dialer (that I don't know off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone here can help you with) that will allow you to disable LTE and choose GSM/WCDMA if I remember correctly.

After scouring the internet I found the code *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone info then select radio bands. All the guides said this will force close (happened to me too) but then the guides said that if you go back to phone info there will be a way to select the radio band..... but that step never works for me. Any ideas?

Is there any other way to select the proper radio band? Will going to CM9 from stock help at all?

    Thank you!

Keenz, you are an absolute life saver! I bought an HTC One X for my mom for Christmas and was setting everything up, she is with Virgin Mobile. The data didn't work though and when I called Virgin Mobile, they told me to restart the phone and if that didn't work, then there's nothing they can do because everything appeared active on their end. I was panicking because its freaking Christmas Eve and there was no time to call and set up another plan with another carrier because we'd have to get another sim card. I found your post, put in the APN for Virgin Mobile and VOILA! Once again, thanks a lot! You really made someone's night :)
