Ok thanks.

If you were in my boat, what would you suggest I do?

I want a stock rom, unbranded so any update from samsung goes straight to my device and I'm no longer reliant on my teleco for updates and the like.

This request might sound stupid, and if so please forgive me.

Jon

I'm very new to these forums, I've read a lot and flashed a custom rom once; on my old LG gt540. after upgrading to the Galaxy S3 through Vodafone Australia I noticed the 'T' at the end and immediately went searching for answers. All I managed to fine was that it was optimized for 850mz. I have no idea what that means, but I still want to root and flash custom roms. I've read up on the CF-root method and using Triangle Away to reset the flash count, but the only issue I thought of was restoring the original firmware if something went wrong and I needed my warranty. I found a link for the firmware in case anyone needed it. I cant post it though as this is my first post. If needed, anyone may email me at this address:
dale_levi1995@hotmail.com

I will update post with link as soon as I can

EDIT: Turns out I only found a link for the Telsta Australia firmware -.-

yeah I've just been waiting for the Voda firmware release. Once that's out, I'll get to CF-Root and start flashing custom ROMS. I think theres a guide on how to make a Nandroid backup, but I'd prefer to have an Odin method to get back to stock

I have a Telstra I9300 and I am very happy with the firmware. There seems to be very little bloatware on it.

Please enlighten me. What is so good about the Vodafone ROM?

I just need it as a precautionary measure, incase I ever want to go back to stock vodafone firmware (I have a I9300T from Voda). Once I have that and know I can get back to stock for warranty purposes, I'll get straight into some of the custom roms out there

so to answer your question, there is NOTHING special or good about the Vodafone rom

Stock xxlfb Rom. Flash it with Odin. ? Profit ?

I'm using this baseband on 2 degrees with no issues whatsoever.

Default SGS3 GT-i900t Questions

So, if I get a Galaxy S3 T-model (i900t), will I be able to root it and install the cyanogenmod custom ROM fine?
I want to also know if Optus would on the T-model (unlocked), and if there are any issues associated with doing this.

All I am basically asking is whether or not Optus would work fine with a rooted, custom ROM Galaxy S3?

Sorry if I missed anything, but I'm new to android and these forums

Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will work on Optus with Cyanogen Mod if Optus uses GSM not CDMA.
Although you may have to play around with modem versions to get one that will work with Optus properly.

I have a Crazy John's T model (Vodafone bloatware) and everything works fine with Cyanogenmod 9 Stable release, waiting for CM 10 Stable to go to that. I've also used SuperNexus no problem. Didn't need to flash a T modem or anything. I've actually found faster speeds without one. Just make sure you put your APN in properly after flashing a new rom, that got me.

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S III I9300T Marble White
ROM: Paranoid Android 2.13.2

Tablet: Motorola Xoom WiFi
ROM: Stock US GED 4.1
