I ran stock until last week when I also decided something different was in order; especially after it was becoming more and more clear that LG had no intention of releasing an official ICS build. I tried a few GB ROMs at first, as they were noted as being the most stable.
A week ago exactly I decided to throw caution to the wind and loaded up HellFire Sandwich 1.7. After a few hiccups with MMS and data services (easily fixed by booting into recovery and fixing permissions) I can honestly say I wouldn't recommend anything else. My battery life is better than it was on stock, the overall feel and UI tweaks are more than I could have hoped for, and the ROM in general runs smooth as... that yellow stuff that goes on toast. I've even ran AnTuTu with the CPU adjusted to various frequencies and scored anywhere between 5937 - 7090.
