Also the hot spot on the right side was a littele bit uncomfortable...

This is my little test report about the acer iconia a700

Yesterday I ordered the Asus transformer prime TF700T and I hope this one will fulfill all my wishes...

The problem is hardware, since the device has the same chipset and ddr2 memory of the 510. There is a reason the 700 is the same price of a device that released just a few months before it. Even Acer gets the trade-off (slow performance, cheap price). The gpu is pushing 140% more pixels.

I tried it out at Futureshop today, nice device. One last thing, can someone confirm this plays 720p/1080p mkvs back, without issues?

Using DicePlayer or MXPlayer playing from a 64GB MicroSDXC card with no issues on 1080p

Screen is beautiful, heat is an issue with many applications/use situations. I don't think it is very slow, but things are clearly not optimal. The worst thing, IMHO, is that the CPU temperature keeps us from using the Tegra 3 fully over prolonged periods of time. Still I find it very handy. It was very nice just to hook on a USB hub with PC keyboard + mouse to the USB port, and it simply worked. Same with a WD Passport HD. Bluetooth also works well as far as I have tested it.

I feel the heat, but it is no hotter than having a macbook pro on your lap, so I don't think it is going to be an issue or wear out quicker.

I've noticed inconsistency in the volume and the stock browser has some issues with certain web pages. The display is certainly nice and has a much better refresh than the displays that were commonly used last year that showed a lot of black smearing. I don't like where the usb connector is (bottom middle) and it lacks a full size usb like the 510. It's a mixed bag so far, I was hoping for a bit better performance than it has.

This device is what I expected it to be, it has it's problems but for the most part it is great. I have yet to use a "great" Android device, and imo this is what the software suffers from most, so many devices, and no time to hash out all the code and make it perfect for each device, but this is Android to me. Once and AOSP comes out for this, it will be great. It runs pretty good now, that I have rooted and removed a bunch of crap with Titanium Backup, I may not even both with a custom rom when one comes out.
