Because you can have bootloader faulty.

My device SPL is 4.5.2250.0. So I can't use the program that helps me recover the SD card, tried taking the card out the phone but it wouldn't read on anything. What do I do?

4.5 on a gen1 phone should be downgradable by just flashing an older SPL directly (using RUU), or restoring a Zune update from before (I've downgraded it using Zune). However, GoldCard will also work.

Hello guys,

I have a Tmobile HTC HD7 with following

OS : 7.10.8107.79
SPL : 5.12.2250
MID : PD29110
Chip SOC : 2.2.5

I just want somebody to point me in the right direction for flashing a CustomOS. I have been reading this thread all day long but I still am worried about bricking my phone.

Please anybody.. just give me the steps in brief and I know I can grasp everything you will be saying.

Help me please.

First, use GoldCard to downgrade your SPL. This requires a bit of hardware, but it's not expensive. There's a few threads that detail the info and the steps, and have links to downloads for you.
Next, load RSPL and install HSPL (the stuff talked about in this thread). If you verify that your stock bootloader (SPL) is version 3.1 or lower, you should be fine doing this.
Finally, use a ROM Update Utility (RUU) program to flash the custom ROM of your choice.
