PortaDoid is not a ROM, it is a (brilliant) tool which is used to change NAND android HD2 ROMS to a format which can be booted from your SD card. If you have android in NAND already, you do not need to use this tool, you can backup and just flash another ROM. Although many NAND android users do use it to try out other nand roms from their sd card without changing their installed NAND android. It is most helpful for people who wish to keep WP7 or WM6.5 in NAND so that they can have android running on their HD2-dual booting. In the SD development forum there are a number of threads which are ready-made ports of existing NAND ROMS for people to try, or you can use this tool to DIY.
With DFT possibly bringing out a new magldr at some point, all this will change with various possibilities for booting different operating systems. We shall see.
