"With a Little Help from My Friends"... New Themes (WM6.1)

I have adapt also ThemeGenCE for WVGA (480x800) and WQVGA (240x400) but I do not know if these files are valid. It works as CAB in the Microsoft emulator but not well !!! I have no pocketpc with these format to test this :

For WQVGA

uhery gave me 2 tsks from Xperia ROM (Official Rom ?). By analyzing them, I was happy to see that it coincides with the ThemeGenCE beta I have in my bag, but I can't verify it because I have no pockets with these resolution (and Microsoft Emulator does not work well for this, except if we delete stwater.gif in \Windows and adjust UseStartImage in Registry depending on themes).

That's the reason why I ask for "a little help from my friends"...

These WVGA and WQVGA themes do not work in Microsoft Emulator !

Wvga themes test

Hi,
I've tested your themes in my Toshiba G900, they work good.
When you want I can do other tests.

Yes, I've tested those two themes.
If you can do other themes, I like themes based on a simple color with some tones, for two reason, they will have a little size and they will not affect the performance of the device, expecially for the rotation of the display.

I will maybe send you the beta version of ThemeGenCE to test these specific themes.

It's possible, with my ROMs they work good, but some themes don't work in some other ROMs. For example, I've extracted some themes from a X1 xperia rom, these works on my WM6.1 rom, but don't work on the official WM6 rom.
Anyway, these are 2 screenshot with your themes.

The 2 images are bmp with 16 bits / pixel and 72 DPI.

UseStartImage is set, so only the 2 Start images (for portrait and landscape are defined) with the names :

stwater_800_480.bmp
stwater_480_800.bmp

and these files are defined with no flags, whereas ThemeGenCE set the flags for images to 0x40000000.

There is another string defined in the TSK (CAB) which is "Start Menu". This string seems to be unused.

These are my first constatations. But I still need "A little Help from my Friends" to make ThemeGenCE compatible for these PDAs.

I tried them, didnt work very well... I made some of my own as well, the colours dont seem to work very well, for example the bars on the top/bottom, even though i put black over black on theme gen ce, came out grey-ish. Furthermore i think the 192dpi setting on themegen is low for the xperia because the pic i used even though it was 480x800 was appearing kinda blurry... If you do the math, it comes out that the xperia's screen is operating at far more than 192dpi

if my calculations are correct it should be: Xperias DPI = (sqrt(480x800)) / 3 = 206

I think that 192 DPI is the correct value for the XPeria X1.

Else if it is not possible, you can do themes for Xperia by using in Options the user sizes, or adapt this tutorial (made for WQVGA) for your Xperia.
