I tried my hand at a redo of the zip: extracting original files, copying to the root of a new 7-zip archive, saving as bootanimation.zip, then putting it in /system/media.

Unfortunately, the bootanimation is still not working, nor is the ogg file that I also put there too. An mp3 I made of the ogg sound does play on reboot, but the screen remains black. I also was told elsewhere that the image files being larger than the standard 480 x 800 probably isn't the issue, and should auto resize when played.

Any ideas to get all this under wraps?
Here is a copy of the bootanimation your looking for works great on my inspire. Also you need to change permissions to rw-r--r--. If you don't change permissions it won't work. Let me know if this helps.

Awesome!

Razr bootanimation is finally working.

However, the droidhd.ogg sound isn't playing now.

Did you get the sound file to play? If so, how you go about it?

Thanks again!

The sound has to be in mp3 format. Besides, you need to set it in the defaul.xlm file...I can't remember exactly where the file is. Just let me check and I will send u the link tonight....

Here u are. This is how it is done, although the post is not for Inspire, it works the same way. I have tested it some time ago.

Hope u can make it to work. You can put the file wherever u want, so you just have to define the path in the Default.xlm file. I always do it in the pc to make it easier....

Yes it possible but you have to get a program that will separate the frames into jpeg or png.

That was kind of what I thought. Do you know of a program that can do it, I read somewhere that windows movie maker could but haven't been able to find that option.

Yes, Movie Maker can do it. It's a bit of work, though. Pull your AVI in to WMM. Go to Tools, Options, Advanced tab. Set the picture duration down to a half second. Use more or less depending on the speed of the original and what you want as a final product. Scroll to the starting frame of your choice. Go to Tools, Take Picture from Preview... A pop up will ask you where to save it. Start numbering like 00001 or whatever system you choose to use. (They have to be in Linux order. Windows looks at this system differently.) Go to Play, Next Frame or L then back to Tools and save the next one. These will be JPEGs but you can convert them to PNGs with Paint.net or similar software. Hope this helps!

Sent to a tower near you using ClearDroid and XDA Premium!

Sorry for the noob question, but are start up times almost always the same? And How big of a file can these bootanimations be?

Im thinking I want to get a custom boot animation where stars slowly speed up while forming into a ball, and then Explode into black screen that loooks like it cracked the LCD and then load into the home menu.
