Default How to get a stronger wifi signal

Hey guys, I got my nexus 7 on Friday and spent the weekend playing with it. At home, the wifi strength on the tablet was fine but last night I brought it to my residence and noticed that I barely got any bars. It is a bunch of us sharing the network and the router is about 8 or 9 rooms down. Because of the distance to the router I get a maximum of 2-3 bars on my laptop (anywhere in the room) but I barely get any on my tablet (I only get maybe 1 bar near the window which keeps going on and off). I tried the following apps: Network signal booster, Network signal speed booster and Wifi booster easy connect. None of these seemed to work. I am new to android and I only tried these apps after researching. Is there any other app that would really help or anyone knows how I can fix this? Thanks

Try turning off wifi and turning it on again. I always get full bars on my laptop and full bars on my nexus and just out of random sometimes it cuts out and goes blank. I just turn it off then back on then boom back to normal
If I've helped you click THANKS!

I noticed that the wifi signal would go blank after it has been on charge for couple of hours.

Do you have any other wifi devices that work? It may just be that your laptop can pick up the signal because it has more antennas/a more powerful wireless card than the nexus, in which case you're out of luck without a repeater.
Current: Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, iPhone 4S (work)
Old: Droid Bionic, HTC Evo, HTC Touch Pro, Palm Treo

Try connectify (http://www.connectify.me). It'll make your laptop act like a wifi repeater, so as long as your laptop gets signal you'll be fine.

As for your Wi-Fi going to sleep while inactive/on charge, try this

Settings > WI-FI > (now click the 3 dots once you are in the WI-FI section) Click Advanced > Change "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to Only When Plugged in (if that's what you want).

One problem solved, hopefully.
