For those of us who are less adept at circuits, etc, I bought a stock USB charger and charge through my computer, not the wall. It works well enough. Just make sure that the Nook's screen is off when charging, or it drains faster than it charges >.>

Just a thought, I have not tried it. Heat shrink tubing might help...

Looking at your schematic, it seems that pin 4 and pin 9 act like a trigger to identify the cable. If we could only find the connector through mouser or digikey...

One thing that I have done to help keep the cable in good health was to encase the plug (minus connector) in a resin block. When I first plugged the cable into my nook, I was uncomfortable with the stress that the cable was under if the nook was resting a flat surface. I made sure that the block brought the connector up to the same level as the nook's connector (no more stress at the port ^.^), as well as reinforce the exterior of the plug.

Thumbs up Schematic

A couple things to note, the app I used to create it did not have LED symbols or mosfet transistor symbols, so I used what was available.
The two diodes labeled D1 are actually one dual color LED with three contact points.
The transistor Q1 is a Unisonic Technologies UK3018 N-Channel Mosfet. The dataset can be found on Unisonic's Web Site at unisonic.com.tw

Thanks very much for the schematic! Looks like more trouble than it's worth, unless you are really into this type of fabrication.

I just checked the B&N online site and they list the cable and charger as no longer available. Am I looking in the wrong spot?. Never mind seems if you follow one link it shows no longer in stock another shows them as being in stock.

Found out it depends on which link you follow, one says out of stock, the other tells you they are in stock.
