Having fun now that I'm back in action, but I've got a bit of a silly question. How do I set the time now that I've removed all the system apps via Jay4255's easy modification tool?

Currently, pressing Set Date and Time in settings causes the app to force quit. Its not a big deal, but I'm headed to the west coast in a few days and I'd like to set it to the correct time. lol

I'm browsing the system app backup in astro browser and am not sure which app to install to bring that functionality back, G2Settings? Also, I'd like to "uninstall" it once I've set the time again, is it possible to do that on the watch itself or will I need to clean out the system app folder with Jay4255's mod tool again?

Thanks!

Default Total Noob Here

Hi, I am a total noob here and need some help. I don't really understand the need to root my device, my only requirement is to be somehow able to transfer mp3 files from my phone to my motoactv without connecting it to the computer. (I use tubemate on my phone to download mp3 files of some documentaries & then listen to them while I work out). Is there anyway I can do that without rooting.

If it can't be done without rooting & I root to use es file manager to transfer files over bluetooth, would I still be able to use all the functionality of the device as a workout tool?

Thanks in advance for guiding & helping me.

Regards

Thank you!

Also, if I may ask, how did you reenable the accelerometer in your rom?

-EDIT-

Okay, installed Launcher2 and had no luck being able to set the time. The settings screen still force closes when I select "set date and time" and launching launcher2 just shows me the animation of how to swipe the original motoactv launcher

-EDIT 2-

After a little fooling around, I realized that I still have access to changing the time zone. This alleviates any problems with updating my clock when I travel. If I *really* need to change the time, I can just install an NTP sync app and let that do the dirty work for me.

I'm hoping someone can write a detailed description of how to update the MotoACTV to the newest version while still remaining rooted. I'm having a lot of trouble with this. Every time I try it, I just end up getting stuck in CWM without the ability to boot into android. I'm able to get back to rooted stock, the issue happens right after that when I attempt to update to the newest version of the MotoACTV software. The update downloads to the computer, then loads onto the device, but when it tries to reboot into the stock recovery, it goes into CWM and gets stuck.

I know about the wikispaces tutorial website (won't let me post a link since I'm new), and I'm trying to follow it, but it doesn't give a very detailed description of exactly how to update.

If anyone wants to write a step-by-step, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

How did you get it back to stock? I am stuck in CWM recovery and can't do anything, what should I do?

A wireless file transfer is not possible without root access.
If you root the device it will keep its workout functionality.

Just use the back to stock button in MotoACTV Root Tool or flash a stock rom of Cennis91.
Current devices:
Motorola RAZR i (rooted) running JB stock rom
HTC Evo View (rooted-S-OFF) running CG Jelly Bean AOPK ROM
MotoACTV (rooted) running stock rom
Nook Simple Touch (rooted) running Minimal Touch

Just note that wireless file transfer is not possible on THIS DEVICE without root; on other devices solutions like Dropbox, Box.net, etc exist, but because the Motoactv's UI is rather limited out of the box, it's not possible until you root.

I am very thankful for your kind reply. After rooting do I need an alternative launcher to access any apps like es file explorer that I may side load? Also, how do i go back to the stock launcher to access the workout functionality & keep that working all the time?

You will need an alternate launcher to access such apps yes. And the second question is one that has been plaguing (at least) me this entire time, some people have different methods of how to balance both Android and workout functionality, I don't think there is a perfect one yet.

Once you install another launcher, (i use zeam), you will be prompted as to which launcher to use upon a reboot or when the home button is pressed.

A thing to keep in mind here is that you have a checkbox to make your selection the default action the next time either of those same situations arise. With that in mind, do not select the original MotoACTV launcher as your default, that will essentially make all the effort you put into rooting moot. Rather, if you do want to specify a default action, select your newly installed launcher as the default for a reboot/home-button-press. You can always select the original launcher from your apps menu to go back to the watch's original functionality.

Most people who prefer to keep the watch's original functionality it's primary purpose tend not to select a default at all, but rather select which launcher to use from the menu every time its queried.
