Just my two cents.
AV companies are hypeing this topic to get more sells for their AV products. They're also fakeing statistics for example the count of malware available.
Might be also a false positive.
If you don't install apps from untrusted sources, you don't have to panic.
Installing apps from somewhere downloaded from the internet is risky for sure.
But as long as you stay on google play and only install our builds and the gapps we're providing, i don't see a problem.
But i've seen a lot of users who are installing some gapps from somewhere else because of a higher version number.
Everyone knows that a higher version number can kill the brain from some users, and they magically have to flash it.
^^ this is my personal opinion and can't be taken as a official statement from the CyanogenMod team.
