Default Help please. Can you run RUU without root access

I'm on 1.85 was rooted but had not unlocked bootloader, I tried updating the software to 4.0.4 but it didnt work so then I used SuperUser to remove root. Still didn't work. I factory reset. still didnt work. I think the problem lies in that I had deleted the AT&T ready2go app. But I am running stock everything without anything else changed.

I think my only option is to run RUU 1.85 and then try to update that way. my question is now that I'm not rooted can I run RUU on a windows computer and will anything bad happen if I'm unrooted?

Sorry if this is a noob question. I tried searching.

Could missing at&t ready2go really be that big of a deal for updating?

Thank you gunnyman. you're awesome and extremely helpful I've been a closet XDA reader for a few months now.

On another note, could me just simply rooting again and installing my at&t ready to go app from my tittanium backup solve my update woes?

No idea. But I'm sure if you're patient a stock rooted flashable release will be out.

Just in case any newbies like me are wondering, deleting the app AT&T Ready2GO may cause your update to not work.

I went back to my titanium backup and reinstalled the backup of the app. Worked like a charm on the first try.. amazing.

Deleting ANY system app will prevent the OTA from working.
