Is there a way to bring it back? I like the the old one where it says "Google" and the mic icon is more pleasing to my eyes.
What .apk or file would I need to bring in from the old build? and what kind of permissions should i set for it?

Thanks in advance guys
I don't know if this can help you, but in my phone i have always to reflash gapps 20120724, after flashing a new build, because i don't know why , but after flashing a new build i have the same Google Search Box you are referring to.

Post Help an old guy out!

Guys,

Fairly new to this and probably just a little older than most (in my 40's).

I have been running custom ROM's for a while and have upgraded to the latest CyanogenMod for 4.1.1 on my GT-i9100 S2.

Right, here's where I think I will probably even loose myself!

I think I had an issue with sending and receiving email and getting onto the internet etc since upgrading. I have read as much as I can on this forum until my eyes are bleeding and now understand a little more about RIL.

One user recommended GetRIL to get the right RIL for the Baseband, so I downloaded that but I can't seem to find one that matches.

I'll post all the techy things that I think you will all want to see, and your best advice would be appreciated. Please don't take the piss, I'm not as tech savy as you guys but I do understand a lot of it.

Phone: S2 GT-I9100
Carrier: VOD UK

Android Ver: 4.1.1
Baseband Version: I9100BULP6
RIL: I9100XXLPW
Kernel version: 3.0.36-CM-g7f5a4aa codeworkx@cyanogenmod # 1
CynogenMod version: 10-20120806-EXPERIMENTAL-i9100-CODEWORKX
Build number: cm_i9100-userdebug 4.1.1 JRO03H eng.codeworkx.20120806.165451 test-keys

Any help would be appreciated.

Pete.

P.S. Thanks for all the other posters. I learn a little more the more I read!

Yes, finally! Useless unless you got stock on nexus. I'm not running CM10 at the moment, so I don't know if it's the same as on CM9, but settings for the lockscreen can be accessed from 2 different places, in "Settings/Lockscreen/Screen Security" and "Settings/Security/Lock Screen/". It's probably the same in CM10. Just a small piece of annoyance.

Don't say THANKS, just hit the button.

Firstly Thanks to Codeworkx and team for a wonderful Rom, been using it as a daily since day 1.Thanks.

I keep seeing this problem pop up so I thought i'd register and share what I've been doing since build 1.

Just uninstall the Google search with the magnifying glass icon. Done!

Have you tried reflashing with wipe cm10 +jb gapps. Also I do think this preview has problems with certain carriers (hope I don't get shot down for saying that). On virgin myself but all I ever see is orange and t mobile virgins own setting won't except for me on any these builds

I am on Vodafone UK/ CM10. Try LQ6 modem and get voda to resend your apn settings. Check your incoming and outgoing email settings - are they asking for your password? Failing that ask voda to check your account and sim. I had a problem with mms but there was a setting not activated on my account that I got sorted in store.

On first boot after flashing, the APN settings don't get configured correctly. You need to reboot then everything works fine.
