I don't have root access to my phone (it's not rooted) and I don't wish to root it since it might void the warranty.

Would Samsung Galaxy S3 tool kit enable me to push the default_gain.conf file to my Phone without affecting the warranty? In other words, how can I push the default_gain.conf file to my phone without rooting the phone?

Thanks.
You need root to push files to the /system folder.

Can someone help me. I was flashing siyah kernel when my IMEI info got corrupted. A user in the siyah thread notified me that the SGS3 toolkit can backup and restore EFS (I used this toolkit when i first rooted). I also have two files on my internal sd card called

efsbackup.tar.gz
efsdev-mmcblk0p3.img.gz

Does anyone have any info or experience in this area.

Thanks your help is appreciated.
The ToolKit doesnt automatically backup your efs partition but certain roms will back them up on installation. The custom rom you flashed must have backed them up so you should be able to restore the originals to your phone via the Toolkit is you extract them from the .gz file, rename them to efs.tar and efs.img and put them in the backups folder.

I have the exact same version and coming from HTC i was not up to par on the different versions of a Samsung.
Blindly i just used the Toolkit with Option 3 and the phone is nicely rooted with Busybox and SU.
Tested Adfree and that works great.

hmm yeah okey but since mskip said he would be including newer insecure kernels, i don't mind waiting.

Used this awesome toolkit three times already - once to root my phone, second time to root some other GS III that was in problem, and now again, to pull myself from trouble from stupidly installing ROM Manager and trying to flash recovery again (i think I missed to stop ROM from flash custom recovery when I had an option to stop it, during flash..nevermind, noob's mistake). Anyways, hitting "thanks" doesn't cover it - toolkit is awesome, very simple and easy to understand even to us newcomers to Samsung and Android in general. Thanks, Mark!

Hi mskip,

Just have to say a really big thank you for your amazing work this tool really is a work of art as not only does it give you and install all the drivers and tools you need it is also so easy to follow and use. I had been away from Samsung phones for nearly two years and i am just blown away by how easy this makes rooting getting SU and installing custom Roms again many thanks for your great work i have already hit thanks and rated this thread 5* and will make a donation to you for your work soon.

The only problem with common sense is that it's just not that common.
