if u looking for something really stable, fast and smooth, try Jelly Belly 1.5.1
been running it sine release and never had an issue with it, plus u will get toggles, hold back to kill, volume rocker....
fully charge battery is giving me around 4hrs of screen on with constant use of 3g.
rom has no support any more.

Default SlimBean

Dude... I cant believe I actually need to say this... but apparently I do.

THE best rom out there is: SlimBean.

Krarvind is simplyl a genius. He stripped everything out, all the bloated crap, and left a really good rom.
Battery life is insane. I leave my wifi, 3g, blue tooth, everything I can open and chowing battery, and I only need to charge my phone 2-3 times a week.
I have been using slim roms since my college at work told me about it when ics came out, and as my friend Ori, likes to put it, its pure awesome sauce.
And now with the jb update, it really is as smooth as butter and runs incredibly.

I was considering getting an upgrade on my phone to the galaxy nexus, but with slim rom it would simply be pointless.

I would deff say my phones overall speed has increased x2 with SlimBean.
Its still in early stages granted, he just released it last week I think, so he doesnt have all the normal features, but it will come.

Seriously, if you are looking for the best rom for nexus s, look no further:

Maybe a bit off topic here but if you are gaming a lot, stay away from any JB rom atm.

I got to say, have a go with CM10 Euroskank, sorry I am new here so can't post links but it's in Dev section.
The OP said he doesn't need many features, so in general I agree with Slim Bean BUT .... the ROM I mentioned is so smooth and is continually updated as CM10 evolves. Plus I reckon the features will prove to be handy. Who doesn't like to customise their device eh?

Need hard data. Post your battery stats and screen on time.

Are you using an extended battery? Post screenshots of battery stats + screen on time too.
