I bought mine HERE posted to the UK at a great price. It looks so much better then the brodit one and is very sturdy and secure holding the phone with or without case and triggering car mode.
I've been watching that one too but was waiting for mobilefun to get stock. Now that the stock due date has passed I may just go for one from this seller.
My wife and I have different phones - so I've been looking for a universal mount which could accomodate both. I like the look of this one on mobile fun:
I wish there was a Kidigi version which you don't need to put on the windscreen, but rather screw on a proclip, like the Brodit's.
I like to keep it out of sight, for robbers.
I've send Kidigi an email to ask them if their planning a version with screws, but never got an reply from them.
I'm trying to prevent my battery from overheating while the phone is docked in my car.
The situation:
- Official HTC car dock (1mA charger) mounted on windshield
- 3 apps running: Copilot 9 (foreground), FlitsNav and Flitsmeister (background, both speedcam warning apps)
- Bluetooth connected (parrot 3100)
- Screen brightness on auto
- GPS on, 3g on, Wifi off
- Running IceColdJelly 0.7 (haven't changed the kernel)
During the day (especially when there is direct sunlight on the one X), the battery temp often goes above 48C and the phone stops charging to prevent damage. When I'm in a call the battery almost always overheats. At night I haven't seen any overheating yet..
What I've tried so far (it's getting better, but the battery still overheats quite often):
- limit cpu to 2 cores (CoreControl)
- SetCPU: default 51/1200, temp > 45C 51/760, temp > 46C 51/475, temp > 47C 51/340, temp > 48C 51/204 (all interactive)
- Tasker: IF battery_overheating THEN screen 20%, IF phone_offhook THEN screen 20%
Any idea's what I can do more to keep the temp down? Maybe undervoltage? Restricting cpu usage for certain apps? I don't mind if the device gets slow, just as long as the battery keeps charging.. (all those apps/connections/phonecalls drain the battery very fast)
Installing a fan or creating some cover to prevent the hit of direct sunlight are last resorts.. (I'm hoping to manage without them)
regards,
dwali
ps. My HTC Leo overheated only once or twice in two years..

I had another solution for my HD2 before, where I had it mounted to the windshield. But after reading a bit about Li-Ion batteries and their problem with heat and taking into consideration how the One X is designed with it's non removable battery, I have decided to go the way described above.
I must say I like it a lot better. The phone is not prominent at all and it gets even cooled down. Usual battery temp is between 23-25° (with Nav & music (BT) running most of the time, screen auto and BT headset connected). It get's charged a little, but it mostly just holds the charge, which is fine with me.
Please post your answer in the thread I linket to above, so we can keep this thread clean
Was doubting if the rom-thread was the best place to post the Q.. (This thread is about what dock is the best? So it might be more offtopic overhere?)
Anyway, I prefer the dock on the windshield, so I can see it without taking my eyes of the road too much.. (holding charge would be fine for me to..)

I have got this, and battery overheats. When i turn on the AC, it writes that it charges (not USB charge but AC charge), but it discharges during navigation (waze or Sygic). BT is always connected. With Desire HD it was perfect. No cooling needed, no overheating and constant 100% charge. Damm new phone

It uses the standard 4 prong attachments (Richter?) so you can simply use an adapter to attach it to a ProClip mount.
Personally I use mine with a pad on the dash so I can put the whole lot out of sight when I want to.
Hey, I've seen some posts about the Brodit active car mount and I have 2 brand new ones purchased from the UK authrorized distributor (www.holdersandmounts.co.uk). They are brand new, sealed and never opened because SimplyElectronics from whom I purchased my phone, stole it from in in the process of RMA request and so I never had the chance to use them.
Sorry, I'm not a reseller or something so I don't advertise any commercial services, just trying to help in case anyone is interested because you will get it cheaper than from the shop. I listed them here:
I bought my Kidigi car dock on ebay, also from a HK guy. 35,99$ shipped incl. To Europe !! KiDiGi car dock
Had to wait for 1 week, and today it arrived. Very well packed, no custom problems, everything went smooth.
The box contains everything, and it works like a charm!
Definitely recommended seller.
