Thanks I did not know factory reset would not touch the EXT4 partition on SDCARD. Great that means no more having to reinstall my apps when I test different ROMS.

Sorry but you was wrong... Reset to factory erases EXT4 partition! I am now doing a full restore to get my software back! So what is the proper wipes to do in 4EXT to erase everything as a factory reset WITHOUT erasing the EXT partition?

So what manual options do I reset to do a factory reset without erasing the EXT4 partiton? Boot, Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache? Exactly what options I know it's not system.. that erases the whole thing.

Max,
After using the trial version of Recovery Control months ago and getting by on the basic version I finally ponied up for the full deal version because its worth it for both the features/easy of use & the level of support you provide with updates.
Thanks again for digging into the flashing other kernels after the 2.89 kernel issue! (Ramjet73 too).

Sent from my "Up all night, Sleep all day" EVO3D!

This post from earlier in this thread has an older version of 4EXT recovery in a PG86IMG.zip file, as well as an info file that you can use to build your own zip with a more current version. If you flash the older version you can easily update to the current version from the app once you are booted into a rooted ROM.

Max,

On a different topic.

There appears to be some confusion over what 4EXT formatting options will affect additional partitions on the SD card, beyond the first FAT32 partition. The additional partitions are used for a swap file (although from what I've read that's really not necessary with Android) and as the place that Link2SD stores linked programs.

Based on user feedback (see posts above), it seems that both a "factory reset" and "formatting all partitions except SD card" do still affect these partitions, but maybe you can give us the official word on that?

Thanks!

Looks like I am going to have to find an alternative recovery soon I'm either moving to the Galaxy S3 or Evo LTE upgrade. My nephew is ready for a new phone and so I'm selling him my EVO 3D for $125.00 so I have to upgrade now. Will miss this recovery as I was just starting to learn how to use it's advanced features.

Well, don't say good bye just yet. As awesome as max is, he may have it available on one of those devices once he revamps the recovery.

S-OFF HBOOT 1.58.58
ROM: NegaLite Blurom SVN

I moved to the Samsung Galaxy SIII.. Got it in White for $149.99 for upgrade.. they price matched Amazon. See how I like it now but first thing to do is root this baby so I can get my apps back with Link2SD. I chose S3 because of all the developers developing on it vs the EVO LTE.
